i was inspired by the first of many felt baby books that were posted on here (THANK YOU, whoever you are!). this was for my "niece" (the baby of my best friend since 3rd grade), who is actually a year and a half old now. it took me a good while to make because i happen to be awesome at procrastinating! im very proud of it, and it actually made 3 people cry! haha. i love that little girl and she loves her book...but she likes to try to tear it apart, so its more for looks than it is a toy.

happy holidays!

I just moved to LA, near Koreatown and have no idea where anything is...

Are there good craft supply stores? Michael's? Joann's? Better??

Thanks in advance!

whenever i sew with knits, i get this effect--i don't even know what to call it--on the cross-grain hems:

do you see how the knit kind of spreads out and becomes wavy at the edges? this never happened to me when i resized t-shirts. i've messed with the tension, tried different kinds of stitches. what am i doing wrong???

thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

My friend Christine and I spet the Saturday before Christmas making candy to give as gifts! Here is the end result, a box with one of each of the six kinds we made:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Going across the top, that's cream fondant, almond-covered truffle, raspberry fondant, chocolate truffle, chocolate-covered caramel, and coconut-covered truffle.

My brother was going to throw away a cashmere sweater with a *tiny* hole in it, so I made a hat. My rabbit Bun-Bun was the inspiration.

popular this season....
I made this for my niece, Izabell. My sewing machine messed up the night before xmas so I couldn't do as much as I wanted and had to finish the front and back cover. eek. So I just did what I could. and used my friend's mom's machine to sew the pages together.
and I wanted to use the tags as page turners but forgot to sew them in and ran out of time. so I put them all on the front page, I hear babies really like those things.

My boyfriend's 19 year old sister is stuck at ome for a few days after getting her wisdom teeth removed. I want to make her a CD with tooth related songs on it. Besides the Christmas one, does anyone know any songs with the words teeth, tooth, dentist, etc in them?

I'm also making her a little tooth stuffed animal with angel wings (her dead tooth). I had 7 teeth removed a few months ago, but because I've had quite a few surgeries before, I wasn't really bed-ridden or in pain or anything, so I'm not really sure what else to send her. So far, this is what I'm sending:

-"Toothy" Mix CD
-Stuffed tooth
-Fleece Hat
-Rice heat/cold thing

There are limitations on what I can get to send to her. My boyfriend is going to come pick up the package since I don't have a car. That said, I CAN'T go anywhere to get magazines or anything else that is not already in my house. What I have to work with:

-Felt
-A retarded amount of fabric
-Smallish (a little bigger than a softball) boxes (she didn't keep the teeth, so no tooth fairy box)
-LOADS of ribbon
-Sewing Machine and good sewing skills
-Normal householdy items

What I need from you guys:

-Tooth songs
-Other ideas :)

Thanks!!!

ALSO:

Any dea where I can find a good picture of this fabric or a drawing like it online?

I don't nee the actual fabric, I just want the image!

I REALLY want a bathing suit cut like this...I LOVE this one but i HATE the color/pattern. So i thought..."dye it black, maybe"?

Would it even dye completely black?
Will the dye run all over me once i get in the water?
I'm having doubts since it's "bathing suit material" (which im assuming is nylon/lycra?)

If you know any other place that has what i call "slutty one pieces" i'd REALLY appreciate it if you'd let me know. =D

(I'm not crazy to be posting about swimwear in the winter, i promise! I live in Miami, it's pretty much summer all year round =/)

so i'm trying to hem up the neckline of a tank top that i am currently working on right now, but i am predicting that the cloth might end up a bit wonky, such as maybe wavy or something like that.. since it is not a straight edge that i am hemming, like a bottom of a shirt.. and its actually a curve like a U since it is a neckline. can anyone help? tips on hemming necklines? thanks in advance! <3

i have been saving my jeans for several years in the hopes of making a gee's bend type quilt out of the legs.  (the specific one is "bars" by lutisha pettway, just in case you were dying to know) but i never quite knew what to do with the pockets after i cut off the legs.  i set the pockets aside for a moment of inspiration.  and that moment happened this past weekend.
my little craft corner got some much needed storage

Does anyone know of a resource for scrap art papers? Preferably scraps that can be bought assorted in bulk. By art papers I mean any kind of hand made papers and things such as rice papers, textured papers, etc.

I'm a bit of a mixed-media artist who needs to beef up her lacking collection :(. However, I see it as a bit wasteful (physcially and in the moneysense) to buy fine art papers in the large sheets they're usually sold in. It would just be nice to have a large enough supply to be able to work freely, rather than having to keep in mind what I do and do not have on hand.

Thanks crafters! :)

*edit* Sources for scrap fabrics would be awesome too!! (not remnants, actual wee little scraps!)

Was wondering if anybody has worked with epoxy putty clay? I'm interested in putting a crystal wand together and know that some people use epoxy to hold 'em together. I also know that you can make jewelry from it...just wondering if anyone knows where I can pick some up, other than online?

Sorry for the text-only post!
