Pattern {Drafting?} Help
Dec. 27th, 2006 02:19 amI've been lurking here for a bit and I've decided it's finally time to come out. Except... all I have is a question. So! Here it is!
( Cut to spare you the pretty pointless but somewhat helpful story. )
Again, for anyone who didn't feel like reading my ramble, here's my dilemma:
1. How should I go about drafting a pattern for the top in this design?
2. Should I put a zipper at the back of said top so I can put it on?
3. Any other advice to help me out?

Dec. 27th, 2006 01:02 pmMy daughter got her ears pierced for Christmas, but the rule is that she's not allowed to wear "dangle-y" earrings... This means that she can only wear posts or studs - but I don't know how to make those (you think that I would have thought of that first, right?)!
Does anyone know how to make studs/posts?
Thanks!

Native American Headdress
Dec. 27th, 2006 01:30 pmI am making a relatively flat headdress using feathers and various papers. I was wondering what would be a good, cheap item that I probably already have in my house that could be used to support the feathers? Something that would go around the head. Basically the base of the whole thing so that it becomes something that can go on the head. Thanks for any help I may receive.

Dec. 27th, 2006 01:46 pmHappy holidays!! I have 2 questions!
1. I bought about a dozen mason jars to do recipie jars for the holidays, but that fell through...any ideas what to do with them?
2. Who is the girl who does the amazing chibis or whatever? my FIL's dog is about to pass (sadly) and I want her to do one for me :)

So, I've completed my Christmas madness (pictures to follow soon), and one thing I've really enjoyed doing is making lip gloss, so I'm going to poke around and do some research on potentially making it a business... but my questions for you all-knowledgable ladies are:
1. Is Henna an okay product to add to a lip balm to make it a lip stain? I found a company that does it, but I'm not sure if there is a process they do to make it acceptable to use on the lips. Everything I've read about Henna suggests that it's all natural and you could incorporate the powder into a base. Anyone hear anything to contrary? First hand experiences?
2. What are my other natural shimmer/dye options? I'm having a difficult time coming up with all-natural alternatives to shimmer (and I do love a good shimmer)and natural dyes aren't too easy to find either. The last thing I want my balm to smell like is beet juice. Blech!
I'm still researching some information about chemicals and dyes and that sort of thing, but as part of my research, I thought I'd poke your brains.

Thanks!

I never did make the second one, but I do love this earring. I ground the edges of the razorblades on concrete to dull them down, and then painted random parts black. They actually look better now that they've had some time to wear a bit.

Just a little bit of freeform crochet. It was hard to not get a weird lopsided picture on my own hand like that. It's more like actual fishnet than most "fishnets", and a bit more durable.
I made a couple bags...
I'm a bit bias. I like the toile one better... probably because I had more fun making that one.
The canvas fabric on the other was really hard to work with on a regular sewing machine. It would get the needle stuck and start having really uneven treads. I'm not 100% satisfied, but it turned out well. I do like how the pleats turned out on it.
I made it for my co-worker's wife. he wanted me to make her a bag for christmas. I don't know her very well. and he doesn't have any idea what she likes in a bag. so, i did two very different styles of fabric. he picked the canvas one to give her.
