question!

Okay, as I have shown before, I like to spray paint stuff onto t shirts with stencils....

annnd as of recently (aka i came up with the idea and made the first shirt tonight) i want to make a "series" of shirts, that fall along the theme..

let me illustrate. )

so here are my questions.

1) Is there anywhere you guys by t shirts online in bulk? I'm not sure how many I will need (probably not more than ten) but it can get kind of expensive.

2) Is there any sort of a product that I could put over the designs to make them more permanent? I haven't ever had any problems with shirts fading in the wash, but it is always a possibility, considering I just use hobby/craft spray paint that i buy at fred meyers. Some sort of a gloss or something? I don't really know.

oh well, I am hoping to have a bunch of these done this weekend, as i have a friend who i want to photograph them, and shes going back to college soon, etc etc.

Any comments/advice/constructive criticism is appreciated =]

i have a crafty idea that i came up with that thought i might share. ive realized lately that i have a huge amount of t shirts laying around for me to do SOMETHING with. (and i could really use the free space) and i thought of just cutting them all up in strips and sew them end to end and make a huge ball of like t shirt yarn. and knit or crochet a blanket out of them....what do u think? a whole different version of a t shirt blanket.

well, nevermind.

anyway. this is my first post here, my name's susie and i'm a painter/crafter and now a little afraid of posting here.

here's an owl mobile i made recently. i handcut the wood and strung it all together. the hardest part was balancing it!

x-posted

i've been using the knifty knitter bag to hold all of my other needles, but it was really crammed and the needles were too big for that bag anyhow. it was really ghetto. i finally got my act together and made myself a knitting bag. I figured some of you might enjoy the tutorial. it's SUPER detailed because i know that's the kind of tutorial i like to find in this community. It holds all of my needles, with room for more, and has plenty of space to store yarn and/or works-in-progress.

this is what the final thing looks like (i made it so that the knifty knitter looms can fit, too)

Thanks to your guys help, I came to the conclusion it was the fabric (from my last post) anyway, so I designed a new stencil and created a new shirt.

I've decided to try and write more letters this year and send more cards as well, so I've started making some cards. I made a thankyou set of 8 and a note set of 6.

My camera is sortaworking now... :) )

I got some watercolors for Christmas & this is my first time playing with them.

Technically the paints are gouache, opaque watercolor. Is there a big difference between working with these & solid block watercolors?

I know you are supposed to prepare the paper before painting ~ wetting and taping it down. How do you prepare your paper? .... Also, what's the best way to straighten a painting that is warped/wrinkled. (Not that, you know, I have one. ;) Just curious.)

Once again I'm working on craft stuff for my dolls and I thought I'd buy some ring size memory wire to try to make some doll bracelets. (Rings quite often make good doll bracelets.) I've never worked with memory wire before and I'm finding it really kind of hard. It's a lot harder to make the little loops than I thought it would be and it keeps stretching and losing it's shape.

Can anyone offer me any advice or point me in the direction of some pointers?

Looky!

I've been crocheting a long time, but this is my first knitting project. Be gentle. :-)

two pictures )

I used Lamb's Pride Bulky (85% wool / 15% mohair), and the directions for the Beginner's Basic I Go-Go Garter Stitch Scarf in Stitch 'N Bitch, but I was using 7.5 needles and not huge ones with extra-bulky yarn, so I just used more stitches across (24) to make it as wide as I wanted. This was really about learning the knit stitch for me. Well, that and giving my sweetie his long-desired scarf. :-)

I made these felt leaves for my Mum for xmas as she loves all earthy things:)

They are bigger than the avereage leaf size and they can be put in a bowl or (as my Mum is going to do) go in frames to make cute art:)
I am going to make some smaller ones for brooch pins too!:D

Hope you like them!

I made a post a while back about using my photography in my crafts. I decided to start easy with some pendants which use my photographs printed out on transparent paper.

The original photographs can be seen here, here, here, and here. The frames themselves are very tiny, under an inch on the longest side. The photographs are very detailed and are of geisha that I took while they were performing in Kyoto.

I apologize that some of the pieces are reversed, oops!

Okay...so my dad got me a Dremel for Christmas. YAY!

So I've been playing with it of course.

I drilled some holes in Light Bright pegs, and well they left plasticy remains on the drill bit.

Plasticy remains I can't get off. ~__~

Any ideas of how to clean it?

I'd be much thankful. I'd hate to have to buy a new bit for it. ~__~
