Black-White jewelry
Jan. 1st, 2007 01:43 pmI've had a bunch of galvanized wire for the longest time -- didn't want to toss them out, and didn't know what to do with them either.
Also, it was at the last week of December where I was feeling kind of monochromatic.
So I sat down and stared hard at all my crafting equipment, and decided to come up with this Black-White set! And they fit nicely into my "Eco:re-purposed" series as well.

(no subject)
Jan. 1st, 2007 02:54 pmI'm doing an art project where I need to write on my skin (hands, face, etc) with regular pen ink, like from just any pen you might pick up and usually use at school. My dad is absolutely convinced that it's poison and that writing on yourself is going to do something detrimental to your health.
Does anyone, please for the love of God, have any links that will show that pen ink is not going to do some kind of damage to me? I know that this sounds ridiculius, but in addition to wanting it for the project, I'm just tired of hearing his shpeel over and over again every time I happen to write "work tues" or something similar on my hand.
Thanks!
EDITED TO ADD:
Arguments about toxic items having to be labled and pens not being isn't going to help a whole lot here. He's in his 50s and is of the mind that everything he's ever thought was true is true until (nd even sometimes after) someone, beyond a shadow of a doubt, can show proof that it's not. I've been hearing the "pen ink is poison" ramble for as long as I can remember. I know that most of you have probably had some similar "argument" go on continuously with a parent or sibling, where it can be proved you're right, but you just can't find good resources. I'm just so tired of it with this particular "argument".

Hey kids! This might border on breaking the rules, so I sincerely apologize to the mods if they think this should be deleted. (or edited. Just let me know and I can edit this part out) I figured a bunch of the members might be interested, though.
I'm the crochet mod on craftster.org and I've recently started running crochet challenges. The current crochet challenge is non yarn. For this challenge, you can use any recycled material except yarn, string, or twine to crochet any object you wish. The focus is to use unconventional materials in your work. If anyones interested, I encourage you to go sign up for craftster and join in on the fun! New members are always welcome and there are no restrictions on joining the challenge. Check this link out for more info: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=141321.0 (and yes, there are prizes for the winner)
( And heres a tree I crocheted recently )

Aussie crafters: Paper tape?
Jan. 1st, 2007 10:04 pmI've seen paper tape referred to in a lot of craft related stuff (for papier mache style projects and, among other things, making a personalised dress form) in various places on the net but I've never heard of it in Australia. I've asked a lot of other craft and 'doing' oriented friends in real life and they've never heard of it either.
Is it something you can purchase in Oz? Has anyone else heard of this and if not has anyone ever heard of something that works similarly?

Snow Globes
Jan. 1st, 2007 10:52 pmWell, I got one of my Christmas snow globes finished...finally. Of course, it didn't turn out exactly as I planned, but...lessons learned!

Acrylic Sealer?
Jan. 1st, 2007 11:49 pmI just watched this video on youtube, and it mentions using an acrylic sealer after "screenprinting" your own tshirts. Since screenprinting and stenciling are so much alike, would it be a good idea to use an acrylic sealer to protect my tshirts? Has anyone here done this? What were your results? And where could I get something like this? Sorry for all the questions!
