Help

I wanted to ask you guys for some help. we're thinking of going to a ball sometime as disney princesses but we want to have something pretty to take pictures with.

Beauty and the Beast has that rose in a glass case. And we want to replicate it. It wouldn't be an openable glass container, it would be sealed shut. I wanted to do this directly into the glass container as well.

What substance could I use to suspend the rose in the glass container (the lid if you will) so that it looks like the rose is floating, and then be able to push some rose petals in also so that it looks like there are petals falling from the rose. It'll all be done with fake rose and fake petals so I don't have to be careful with delicate real flowers and such.

There is a substance that I can use for such a prop, right?

Thanks for any help.

Hello!

Here's my Bunny dog, i made him for my friend'd birthday. It is strange, everytime i try to make something cute, it turns out like a living dead monster. I am like Jack Skellington. Oh well.

and this is one of the first things i made, out of scraps of felt

I took up beading this past summer just as an excuse to hang out with my aunt and my two cousins. These were made then (I know, that was a while ago) and I think that, for me, beading isn't a hobby that's going to stick. I still have several 'not started' and 'half-finished' projects lying around.

my mom and i both belong to the batlimore bead society and they had their annual winter bead show this past tuesday. while we were browsing, my mom saw this woman selling what she called "caterpillar" scarves. they were extremely skinny and were crocheted. i've been googling all morning trying to find a pattern for one for my mom and i haven't had any luck.

can anyone direct me to crochet patterns for extremely skinny scarves that could be considered a caterpillar scarf?

thanks heaps in advance!

Hey everyone.
I'm mostly just a reader of the group considering I never have to make anything (Don't we all just love school and the lack of time to make stuff?). My guy's mom wants me to show her how to make earrings and then who thing of "I love Celtic designs" came into conversation. We where chatting and I was thinking about something I can make from seed beads.....or if there were any beading patterns out there that I could make and show her how to do. I havn't really checked online yet, and I just thought I'd ask to see if anyone had any patterns or done anything like that before.
Thanks!

My friends David and Michele, who are living in India right now, brought me back some AWESOME educational posters from Lucknow with tremendous crafting potential. I am currently working on a tote bag made with iron-on transfers of two of the posters, but in the meantime made myself a new wallet from a poster about personal hygiene:

One of the frames says "Do not spit on the ground".more photos under cut )

I still have several cool posters that I want to use. Any other ideas? Sew-free please - I don't have a sewing machine. I also have way too many decoupaged household items around. :-/

So, I FINALLY found one of these babies after searching Goodwill's and Salvation Army's for a few months. I have way too many ppl comin over on a normal basis and eating all my snacks so I figured if its going to get eaten Im goin to be paid for it. :) Anyway, this machine is hideous... I thought of spray painting it, or decoupaging comics on it, covering it in stickers.... what would u do to it?

I finally got some disposable cameras developed and now I can show everyone what I've been working on. This purse ended up being a present for my best friend.

Beary Bonds

I made him for another friend for Christmas, but she only just got it recently, so I have been holding out on posting him. The bear pattern is from an amigurumi book, but I have no idea what the translated name of it is. The rest is all me. I have no concept of garment creation other than scarves, so winging it was kinda difficult!

Beary is made from plain old acrylic and embroidery floss, and stands 14" tall.

New Bag =)

I made this baby all for me.

Some people might know where the bat is from, those who don't it from a clothing line called Clandestine.

I wanted to try out some new things before adding them to other bags so I did it all here. One thing was adding the plastic clasps at the bottom of the flap, a total pain in the butt, I don't know if I want to do that ever again.

I was thrilled about the lining because it's a print made for St Jude Hospital. The proceeds of the fabric go to research and other St Jude related needs.

EDIT, fixed the images, sorry about that.

Anyone in the Richmond Hill or Newmarket area of Southern Ontario (aka "Greater Toronto Area") should take note that Fabricland is closing its current location in those towns, and opening new ones. Consequently, everything in the store is AT LEAST 50% off. (Some of the clearance stuff is marked down an additional 50% from the first markdown.) I picked up some taffeta for $1.50/m, some fake silk noile for the same price, quilt batting, and snarfed up a grand total of 25m (yes, there is no decimal in that number) of paper-backed fusible webbing (fuse it to the fabric, then fuse the fabric to the project). I was in a sporting mood; I left some for the people who come in behind me.

Oh... and I picked up a few metres of majestic velvet for $12.50/m. You know, that bridal fabric stuff.

Thinsulate is on sale, too, but I didn't have a project in mind... I'm gonna regret not taking it.
