The Vagina Train Stops Here )

My last two bags. All of my bags, checkbooks, and wallets sold except for one. :) I am so happy about that. My friend has yet to tell me how much they made.

i posed this in december 2005...

http://community.livejournal.com/craftgrrl/7545799.html#cutid1

and i still don't know what to do with the book! the pages are really space out, because i wanted the book to able to lie flat... which it can now, i suppose if i added a ton of stuff, there wouldn't be as big of spaces, or if i glued the sections together... i've tried painting, etc, in it, but it just seems too nice, and i feel like i'm ruining it! and i'm not much of a journal-writer anymore. i guess i could fill it with my photography? i don't know. interesting pockets, maybe? and somehow decorate the cover... which is already permanently adhered...

i'm stuck. i spent a lot on the materials, and i spent a long time making this... and i really like it!!!
any ideas of what to use it for?

The skirt was and experiment that I whipped up the night before Valentine's Day because I had a sudden need to have a v-day themed outfit.

I made the valentines for a swap I was in. They're all made of vintage images found online, cut out with my border trim scissors and pasted onto a crumpled up tissue paper background. Most of them have felt details.

My boyfriend is turning 22 March 27th, and I intend to surprise him all day long with small gifts.
Here's the thing, he's not a "believer" of birthdays. He never celebrates any birthdays. Some of that is because of his religion, and he keeps saying how everybody is special all year long, and it sucks to get someone you don't love, a present because it's polite. Actually, I turned 18 last year, and he gave me NOTHING. Not even a "happy birthday".

Instead of doing the same to him, I'm gonna make him feel more special then ever, maybe he'll like it and see what all the fuss on birthdays is about.

I'm not sure this is actually crafty, but I intend to make small little gifts, and surprise him all day long, by giving away the gifts to his college friends and make them give him throughout his classes.
I need some help with the small presents.

Well, what can  say about him?
He's a musician (sings, writes, plays guitar, bass, drums and the piano)
he's also in a band, in which he writes most of the songs and sings
he's an artists (I've never seen anyone draw and paint like him)
obviously, he's into music (specially Muse and Smashing Pumpkins)

For now, all I have in mind for some of the presents, are some custom made buttons, maybe with some inside jokes, or pics of us; chocolate(gotta love chocolate); maybe a stenciled shirt of Muse.

So, I need you girls ideas of small things I can do for him. What would a painter/drawer need/love to receive.

I'm long time reader, but I don't think I've ever posted anything.

Thanks! :D And sorry for the long post. =/

I hope this post isn't too stupid, as it's my first. First part of it is a wee bit of a brag, since I managed to make this )

I'm going to be designing some 2 1/4" Pocket Mirrors for merchandise for my webcomic (you know, they look like buttons but have a mirror instead of a pinback).. I'd like to be able to make a little bag of some sort to go along with it, but the mass produced fake velvet drawstring bags that i normally see them with leave something to be desired.

Sewing isn't a problem, but obviously I'd like to keep cost of materials and amount of work for each one to a reasonable amount.

Do you think just making these with a cute patterned fake velvet would up the nice-ness level? Does such a fabric even exist? Maybe something with a velcro closure instead of a draw string? Is it worth futzing around with a lining?

I'd love to hear what you think. :)

The type of bags that I'm talking about.. )

I've been busy over the last couple of weeks again with sewing which is great. It looks like I'll be doing the Toronto Comic Convention in April again so I'll have to keep up my sewing habits.

schoen wars

a teacher of mine retiered a couple weeks ago (her last name is schön, which means "pretty/ beautiful" in german.
"schön wars"= "it was beautiful").
i made this cake for her. it´s filled with peach-cream, covered with a lot of marzipan and has about 1.000.000 calories.

Target had these adorable reversible purses in the "teen" department that were priced pretty cheap (yay, Target!). They had them in several colors but I went for this black and white checkered one and jazzed it up to give to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] cadette for her birthday...

Before:
Cute, right? It's got a great shape and the strap is long enough but it is rather plain.

After and pics from the process behind the cut... quasi dial-up friendly )
