I wanted to start making cool projects and tutorials to share with everyone. Todays swanky project is a hanging pendant lamp made out of ribbon.

I also posted this on my blog, it can be seen here. If you wanted to book mark it. I know how things can get buried here. Anyway, enjoy!

Tutorial under here with lots of picture goodness. )

First Purse

So this is the first purse that I've ever made (except once I reconstructed a skirt into a purse.) but yeah, I made up the pattern and such. Strap looks weird in the photo, but it fits over a shoulder perfectly without being twisted. Flap with button velcros down. Bead on zipper was hand beaded by a crafter named Anacronismo.
Pocket on the inside.

There is a hoodie I really want, but I do not want to spend $80 for it, and then to top it off, its "dry clean only." So I decided to go ahead and make it. This is probably a weird request, but does anyone know where I can find "brain" fabric that resembles what is inside the hood? I would prefer it to be an online. Thanks!

I made a baby Dracula that I find insanely loveable. He is so cute I am almost disgusted with myself.

I'm going to attempt to make my own jewelry.  I've been looking for some beaded necklaces and bracelets and I can't find any that are reasonably priced that I really like.  So I've decided to just try making it myself.  Can anyone suggest any good websites for either supplies or for instructions on how to make the actual jewelry?  I've never mad any sort of jewelry before besides friendship bracelets back in the day so I could use any help you guys can give!  I love seeing all the crafty goodness in this community so I know someone must be able to help me :)

Thanks in advance!

For my final paper (I study fashion technology in Belgium), I am looking for detailed asian size charts, both for men and women. Those used in sewing magazines would be most suitable, but as long as they are detailed (more than just bust, hip and waist)could be useful.
If there's anyone who could help me with this, I'd be very grateful!

Two maternity skirts into one post-maternity dress. The dress can be worn with either side facing forward. I think I'm leaning towards the square neck side.

So, I know I'm a little late, but I've been working on a project for my boyfriend. I wanted to get it done by V-Day but I've been busy and felt sort of non-creative for awhile. Anyway, I bought this really cute wooden box that I have almost gotten completed. I've painted it inside and out, several different coats. I glued feathers to the inside of the box. In the middle I wanted to glue this old fashioned key I've been holding onto since I was little. But I've tried every kind of glue I own and nothing is sticking. (I even have a glue I used for sticking mirror pieces on a painted canvas and that didn't work either!)... and obviously hot glue doesn't work because of the smooth surface of paint.

Please tell me there's something I can use! Thanks!

Hi! I'm Katie, and I'm new. :3 But you should call me Atagamay.

As you would assume, I like to make things. Right now, I'm taking a jewelry and metal design class at my college, and I love it very, very much.

Some stuff I made! )

Well, I'd stay around longer, but my Sculpy sushi charms are *thisclose* to coming out of the oven! But that's another post... Ta ta for now! ^_^

I've been lurking and commenting for a little while now, but this is my first post. Hello! My name is Heather Layne. I'm a senior English Writing major and I've crafted stuff all my life. I've done DIY things for the house, some scrapbooking, some card-making, and a couple of years ago, knitting ate my soul and I can't stop doing it. ^.^ I recently got into sewing, both by hand (cute little pins and knick-knacks out of felt for my friends and me) and with the machine I just got for Christmas. I've made an apron for myself and a matching one for the doll I've had and loved since I was 4, and some lame armwarmers, but I eventually want to start making my own clothes and other more complicated items. I also dabble now and then in other things that interest me that I see on blogs or in a store or whatever. Some of them may stick, who knows? I'll be sure to post my attempts.

Behind the cut are some of my recent projects.

Socks, t-shirts, aprons, and so on )

ANYway. I have a total n00b question: when you wash fabric before sewing with it, to pre-shrink it and get the sizing out and all that, how do you keep the edges from fraying all to heck? Or do you just let them fray and who really cares because all you need to do is snip some threads and you lose maybe 1/4" of fabric. Just seeing if there are any snazzy tips I don't yet know! I washed and dried some cotton flannel just now and it had crazy little threads and knots all alonge the edges!

Thank you for reading and looking, and thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give me (if there are any). I am amazed daily by the awesome things I see posted here, and I love reading about everyone's crafty endeavours!

Hi guys,

I'm hoping that once again you will come to my aid like the knights in shining armour that you all are...

Now that the flattery's done, I'm having an interfacing issue.

I want to make a tote bag out of a well-loved Sarah Utter t-shirt and have found a tutorial for exactly the kind of bag I want to make.

The thing is, it's not the most clearly-written tutorial in the world, and it's gotten me a bit confused.

Here it is, for reference: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=52143.0

Basically it's just the interfacing thing that's confusing me. Whenever I've used fusible interfacing before, it was to bond two pieces of fabric together. In the tutorial though, it seems like she's applied interfacing only to one piece of fabric, to make it stronger without the help of an additional piece of fabric.

Is that right? I imagine it might feel all stiff and yucky, but again that is the point of interfacing! But what if the bag got near something hot months down the line and it bonded together weirdly?

(I think it's just because the tutorial's not very clear in general that I'm getting muddled up. The lining especially seems confusing but I've found a clearer explanation elswhere, so I'm not too worried about that.)

If I've not been too clear, please let me know and I'll try to explain better.

Thanks guys!

EDIT: Thanks for all your help guys!

the baby's name is lily grace, if that helps at all... ummm, ideas? i'm not good at crochet, and i can't knit, so those are OUT. but i'm okay at sewing.

suggestions, comments?

so that it's not text only, here's this pink tree that is sitting beside me right now.
