I think I'll do questions first, pictures second. My questions are in no way related to each other.

1. I was watching American Idol last week, and one of the girls had the cutest wrap-tunic-top. Anyone know of a pattern (or tutorial) I could use to make a similar one? I looked on some pattern websites but all I found were spaghetti-strap ones, and I need something more similar to the one in the picture so I can actually wear a bra under it. pictures )

2. This is more curiousity than anything, but I was talking to my roommate the other night and she was asking why it's okay to buy fabric with a design on it (someone else's design, like any printed fabric that people buy) and make something out it and sell it. Why IS that okay? It is, right? I think I know that you can't make stuff out of licensed prints like spiderman or batman and then sell it, but I'm talking about everything else.

now for my crafts & some other crap. )

Opinions? Feedback? Answers to any of my questions?

cardboard donut painted white + buttons + hot glue + ribbon = button wreath ornaments. I think I like the all white one best.

i was looking through the memories and kept noticing lots of references to elmers glue. im assuming this is an american product (im in australia).

my question is; is it a brand or TYPE of glue? and what sort of projects is it best for?

if there is anyone from aus. here who uses it where do you get it?

thanks everyone.

*edit: from the incredibly quick responses i got, it sounds like its pva. the stuff you paint your hands with to pass the time :) thanks heaps!!

if your in sydney (australia) you should definitely consider going to reverse garbage for resources (if you dont already). most people know them for their fabric and foam balls but i was looking through their online catalogue and they also have art/craft supplies (paint, brushes, gesso).

since it says in the rules that i cant advertise a business or something to that extent i wont put up prices from the catalogue. i recommend you take a look at it yourself www.reversegarvage.org.au

Reverse Garbage is a not-for-profit co-operative that sells industrial discards, off-cuts and over-runs to the public for creative and practical uses, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

plus its good for those days you have a mental block and need to look at the giant foam shark for ideas :)

I have a transformation project to do for school, where I have to take an object (ordinary, found, garbage/recycle, etc) and turn it into something else. I was so excited at first, but now I am totally stumped.

I checked out the recycle art section over at Craftster, and found a link to this site,

I want to do something like this or this . But I don't know how to do those kinds of weaving (well, I don't know how to do anything like that) could anyone please explain?

I am open to other suggestions. I want to use something I have a lot of (beer bottle caps, empty water bottles, colourful plastic bags, cd's/records, cardboard, toilet paper rolls) or stuff I can find for cheap or free (paint samples, magazines/newspapers, ??)

any help is much appreciated, thanks

A friend had found a single earring from the 80s, and asked if anyone knew whether they sold anything like that any more... I looked at them and thought, I could make those out of paperclips... )

Hey

Any suggestions as to a program/method could I use to make a document wall-sized? I have no spatial sense, and am trying to get an idea of what size the letters can be, before I bunk up a perfectly good base coat.

and/or, what kind of paint might be best (free-handing, not stenciling)?.

Please and thanks :)
