I want to crochet some rugs for my house, but unfortuately where I live we cannot get rug yarn. So what kind of yarn would you recommend using?

Thanks for any help. Oh, also, does anyone have any good rug patterns for crocheting?

I stayed up until 3:00am because I was breaking my crafting curse. I had gone through a hellish time with crafting for weeks and I finally bought some remnants and made a mini messenger bag for [livejournal.com profile] mysticsunrise. I used this tutorial. Total cost, about $10, $6 of which was the purple faux-mink strap (I kid you not, but it was worth it). I'm not 100% happy with the strap, but my serger and I are still getting to know each other. Serger+funfur=win. Seriously. Anyway, after a disasterous start, I think it came out well.

Cross-posted to my journal and [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl.

I read the post on Doc Martens, but I'm interesting in painting a pair of Converse-style shoes. I'm really looking for black hi-top converse, but I don't want to pay about $50 for a pair. Wal*Mart has hi-top Coverse-style shoes for about $12, but they only come in maroon and brown. Has anyone has any experience painting these types of shoes? I was thinking I could spray paint them black, but will that make them uber-stiff and hard to wear? Or, since they're shoes, will it not make too much of a difference? Any thoughts or other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I recently saw Marie Antoinette and used it as an inspiration for these pieces. They're all very similar, but I meant them that way. The wrought silver, pearls, and faceted pastel accents really appealed to me so I kept that theme going throughout. To me, they are playful, elegant, romantic, girly, and just right for spring.

Please give me your opinions/questions/criticism. Thanks!

Does anyone know of major stores that carry the Chatpak Blender Pen? Or another pen of the sort? I've been the WalMart & Micheals and they both didn't have it. :[

I want to make a necklace similar to one in Sofia Copola's Marie Antoinette. BUT I can't find a reference picture anywhere on the internet. It's the pink one Kirsten Dunst is wearing in the supper scene that opens with her poking a yellow jelly with a raspberry on it. Here's a pic of sort of what it looks like:

(Tell me if that's too big for your friends' pages and I will cut it!)

Has anyone come across a screencap of the real thing?

I found this super cute paint by number fabric at my local shop. I made this purse out of it. I am in love with this purse design as well!
