Hey there Craft Grrls!
This evening I finished up a little cross stitch I bought at the dollar store. I have done one other cross stitch on regular muslin fabric, but this was my first go on real aida cloth. Boy, what a difference! It's sooo much easier to have all those little holes laid out for you than to try to make even rows and columns and whatnot on a plain cloth. So here he is...Lucky Duck )

I also made a needle book to keep my needles all in one place. Check it out. )

See the top hat in the avatar? It's like a felty material I think.

My question- can I modpodge strips of fabric (say satin) onto it I'm talking the whole thing? Then if I wore it like that would the podge crack, chip, flake if it gets bent a little? I love my hat but hat the cheap feltness of it... yeah $40 cheap felt >_< but still better than the price of a real silk top hat ^-^' thank you in advance!

Normal sized this time unlike the tiny ones from before!

Quite possibly will be used as a pincushion, but seeing that I have SO many to stick things in already, I think I'll just let it sit pretty on the shelf. LOL

Pattern: Freebie piece called "Pearl Drops". Basically made use of the diagram only and disregarded the other instructions. LOL
Top Side: Stitched with Anchor Multi-colored (1325), DMC 335 and 340 on 25-count linen
Bottom: "Inverse" of sorts, but I kept the 340 one on the same spot coz I though it tied the piece together nicely.
Beads: Translucent light purple plastic beads on the side, with alternating solid white for contrast. Center is a translucent cupped flower bead, which I found by pure luck! Imagine I found it in a stall between one that sells cheap electronics and another that sells ove the top accessories. LOL I thought the beads were perfect for the biscornu!
Finished Dimensions: 4" x 4" x 1.5"

I have 3 comic conventions coming up over the spring/summer. Last year I was lucky enough to get a table at the end of an aisle so I was able to use my full rack for my bags. But I don't know where I will be sitting at the upcoming cons which means I probably won't be able to use my rack if I have tables on either side of me (the tables always touch). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to display my bags? I'm trying to come up with different ideas using clothes pins and laundry rack/hangers..  I'd like something relatively easy and simple. I'm not really handy with tools haha.

This is how I set it up last year:

Does anyone know of an ACTIVE gardening site/community? I'm trying to make my first garden and am a notorious plant killer, so I thought I'd try and start this garden off on the right foot by asking when I should plant each of the seeds. (I have both vegetables & flowers.) Thanks in advance for any info :)

EDIT::
I should also note that I live in an apartment, so this is going to have to be done in planters on my balcony.

Does anyone know if I can dry pottery in my home oven, or does it have to be done in a kiln? I just want my pieces dry enough so I can paint them with acrylics.

Thanks!

doing some minor spring cleaning around the house, i found a bunch of half-used notebooks as well as my mom's calendar from last year. this may be the first crafty thing i've ever done since grade school (almost ten years ago) and it's really simple, but i'm proud of it :)

So here is a purse that I thought of, and it sort of consumed me for a day, just thinking about how all the bits and peices should go together. This is just a prototype. The finished product would generally have a better flappy thing, and matching thread, instead of what I just had around the house :)

This was made with quilting cotten fabric, and cotton batting.

It's my second one, and although there are some things I'll do differently next time, I'm happy with it.

I've had a lot of free time on my hands this last week so I've been sewing like crazy.

I made a blanket out of fleece and an Alexander Henry fabric. I'd like to stuff it a little bit with something soft like down feathers but I don't want feathers to poke through. I have no ideas and my google-fu is not working tonight :) Does anyone have any suggestions?
