I'm looking for sites on how to make those charms that look like food.

I've seen them all over, and seen people charge about $20 for them on a necklace. I know I can make them myself, but I would like to see how others hav made them.

I saw an entry in the memories about it, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for... anyone have any other links or tutorials?

And if you can't find a tutorial or anything, perhaps just some pictures? That would be sweet too.

x-posted.

I made pretty shiny things AND took pictures of them! I'm always happy with myself when I do this. It's pretty gratifying.

i'm in the process of making a new purse. the last ones i made ended up not holding up so well to the elements.

is there something that i can treat fabric with that will make it withstand rain or at the very least, dirt better?

i was thinking about the rainguard spray that's meant for shoes. i wasn't sure if that would just ruin the fabric.

any help would be much appreciated! and i'll be sure to post my purse once i finish!

A pair of necklaces I made earlier this week. I'm debating which of them will be a birthday present for a friend. The white coral is a piece I found on the beach.

Apparently spring weather means I make girly things ^^ And my scanner has cat hair ALL over it...

So, I made a potato stamp, to use for a project of mine for a class. I'm designing a lesson plan for young children. Anyways, my question here is... can you use the potato stamp immediately after your done carving your design? Or do you need to let it dry out first?

Would appreciate any quick replies from people who have done this before. This is due tomorrow, But I'm hoping to get it finished within the next hour, since I have other final projects to work on as well.

So, I'm having my sunday school decoupage wooden picture frames for mother's day. And since I haven't done that since the days of girl scouts, I'd like some advice.

1. Is mod-podge really worth it? Or could I thin Elmers with water?

2. If it's cheaper/more effective to thin the elmers what ratio should I use?

3. Should I have the kids paint the frames first? White? Or just sand them.

4. We're using tissue paper- tear beforehand or let them do it?

Or if you have any other advice/tips please let me know. :)

And since everyone hates text only:

i have a question about Japanese craft books, i have fallen in love with the Japanese craft style
and there are quite a few books and mags out there (but buying them is not the problem) the question is, is being able to read Japanese required? i only can understand minimal Japanese so would that cause problems on steps, or would i be ok or does it depend on what mags or books im using? like i have a few Japanese to English dictionaries would those be helpful? or am i just doomed to buy American craft books of the same style off the internet, when i have a huge Japanese book store 15 minutes away from my house?

thanks in advance :)

know of any free hand bag patterns? or a good source for handbag patterns?

i COULD go without a pattern..... but i'd rather not go through the trial-and-error hassle and wasted fabric and wonky first attempts and such....

Hi Lovely Crafters!
I've been watching this community for awhile but now actually have a question that I haven't seen answered--at least not in the Memories section ...

I'm organizing a banquet for my co-ed fraternity, and am giving wine glasses as a gift for the guests. I thought that maybe to combine the name placeholders and the gift I could just write the names of the guest on the glass. But I've heard glass markers will smudge off if not baked first ... and I guess that goes for glass paint too? I'm not sure, so I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations ... or do I absolutely HAVE to bake all that glass first? (I have about 120 glasses to go through ... :/ )

Thank you so much in advance for any advice you could provide!
