About a year ago, I saw a leather belt with newspaper clippings glued upon it, at the very humble price of $78.00. So I think to myself that I could totally make it! I just got around to doing it a week ago and finished last night. It hit me that a great theme would be the Global Warming headlines and articles in the recent editions of the Oakland Tribune.

Underneath the cut are a lot of detail shots. (And one more of the money maker.) I figured out that an acrylic glossy sealant for paintings or charcoal with well placed (i.e. where needed) Yes! glue. It matches my messenger bag, which adds nice symmetry. I really like it when things match! When my messenger bag is completely done with and I'm very proud of it, I'll post it up!

So, I broke my glasses. One of the lenses broke into four large pieces and I've kept it after throwing the rest of my glasses away. I just feel like there might be something to do with it, but I'm not sure what. I was thinking of gluing the lens back together, but I don't know what kind of glue I could use that would dry clear and thin. Also, I was thinking some kind of small picture behind it, but I don't know how I'd do that without getting too emo. Any suggestions?

So I am in a bit of a jam, and request the help of some crafty students, or anyone else who could help. If you are living in a dorm/small apartment crammed full of people, where do you keep all of your fabric, wool, paint, canvases, etc etc?? I know some of you probably may still have rooms at home to store it, but here's jam number 2: My dad is selling the house about the time when I'll be moving out, and moving conveniently out of the way (a few hours up north) and to an apartment. And my mom ALREADY lives conveniently out of the way and in an apartment. I plan on giving up my car for a buspass, so I'd have no way of getting my stuff back even if I did go with that option. So, what would you do with your crafty stuff? I know I could use it all one day and want to hoard it all because if I throw it out and then end up needing it, that's money down the drain :(

Can anyone shed any light on what kind of artwork this is?

I found this photo ages ago while Googling birds and loved the look of it. I'd love to know more about whatever technique this is, but don't even know how to search it. I thought maybe it was woodburning, but looking closely, it seems far too precise and two-toned. Do you think it's stenciled on paper or textile? Is there a name for this kind of thing? I know it was a style that was used a lot in Art Nouveau works, but that's all I know. Thanks!

So a week ago or so I asked for opinions about a layout for a quilt. Now that my sewing machine is again working (YaY!!!) I've got a sample.

I Love to make my friends things. I usually just make purses or jewelry for my girl friends.

But I really want to make something for my boyfriend. I can't really think of any crafts a guy would appreciate though.

any suggestions?

I've been crafting lately, so I have a few goodies to show. First off, I had this really ugly pair of shoes...

And since I've always been such a big fan of 30 Seconds To Mars, I figured they might as well be on my shoes.

Does anyone know where to get the 3/4" round magnets to use with the 1" buttons? The kind that you don't need the flat back for? Tecre has them, but the smallest amount is 1,000. I don't want to buy quite that many . . . .

Thanks!

I am learning to use my sewing machine.

Tonight I made a purse and it rules hard. )

Alright, if this isn't appropriate, I do not mind deleting this.

I'll be going to Baltimore, MD for business for 1 day. Are there any neat craft stores, indie shops, etc. that I shouldn't miss? -- feel free to recommend some restaurants too :)

anyway, thanks in advance!
