Here are the last few things I've been working on. Shock! It isn't all octopus related :)

This I LOVE... I started with a clear resin and let it sit. Then cut out a small square of butterfly fabric and painted it with resin so it wouldn't bubble. I poured the rest of the resin and tinted it yellow. I have secured a sterling silver bail. It reminds me of some of the work the glass fusers can do.

Thar be pirates and sea creatures about! )

Does anyone know of a pattern or can point me in the right direction of one for this dress?

hello! a quick question -

what would be the best sort of paint to use on vinyl? not like, PVC thin shiny vinyl, like upholstery vinyl, the kind of stuff you can use to fake leather. like vinyl-tablecloth vinyl.

i'm a pretty avid painter, so i'm pretty sure i have SOMETHING, but i'm not scared of using anything i have to - acrylics, testors model paints, spray paint, what-have-you. thank you in advance!

I've finally decided to buy a sewing machine, but I know nothing about them. I only sew ocassionally, & it's nothing that I intend on selling, so it doesn't need to be something fancy. I make curtains, repair holes in clothes, make patchwork quilts/blankets, & other small projects like that. I'm on a very tight budget (think $100'ish). I'd also prefer to buy it locally & we don't have a lot of stores to choose from (think Michael's, JoAnn, Walmart). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

& so this isn't another text-only post, Read more... )

EDIT::
If $100 is unreasonable, please let me know what I should expect to pay.

I made this rainbow dress that I love! It's like the rainbow shirt I made a while ago. It's made out of 6 t-shirts on the front and lined with another one. It has a bunch of cute hearts going down the dress.

I did a new painting of a wolf and full moon in acrylics on canvas board. I really like how it turned out it took me a bit to get the background the way I wanted it.

I made these on Saturday night for my sister, who loved my previous ones posted a couple of months ago.

Both are completely hand sewn and they had me working for about 3 and a half hours total.

comments/critique are always welcome.

I hope this is ok to post here...

I have decided that I must get a job in a bead shop for this summer and part time from September onwards when I start my Master's degree at uni. I don't think I've ever seen jobs in bead shops advertised anywhere so I reckon my best bet is to send my CV with a covering letter to all the bead shops in my city (I'm in London, UK) and hope for the best...

Does anyone here work in a bead shop or in a general craft store? Any good tips about things I should write on the covering letter? I have been crafty all my life and make my own jewellery these days. I have some customer service experience, and in a couple of months I will have a BA degree in media studies (which isn't really related to crafty things but transferable skills at least). It will probably be the case of being in the right place at the right time, so to speak, as most bead shops are small and don't have much staff...

which to get?

I've been looking at Denise Interchangeables, KnitPicks , and Boye Needlemaster.

I'm a beginner knitter, and I've made two circulars.. but it's getting to be kind of a PITA.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Denise, I like the fact that it's family owned, and I've read good reviews.. I feel comfortable with both metal and plastic.

I don't like bamboo, a friend of mine has Bamboo Sister interchangeable. They look pretty but I'd wind up using them as barbecue skewers.

Anyone use any of these? Input?

thanks!
