Question:

Next week I'll be on vacation-both in Rehoboth Beach (I don't think I spelled that right) in Delaware and for the second half in Rochester NY.

Anyone suggest any crafty stores or things to check out? I'd greatly appreciate it.

This is going to sound a little crazy, but I just want to be safe:

I was crapping around earlier today, just doodling on some paper and drew a really cute little version of Harry Potter. Turns out, I'm now in love with my little drawing and I wanted to make a little icon of him and screenprint him on a t-shirt.

BUT

The more I look at him, the more familiar he looks. I'm assuming there was an LJ user making the drawings a while back, so if anyone knows what I'm talking about once I describe this, please link me. I only saw the drawings on icons, but I vaguely remember there being someone who drew little chubby versions of the HP characters in small comics (It wasn't the potterpuffs). The way I remember her character seems somewhat similar in my mind to what I've drawn and if it is, I don't want to accidentally steal her stuff. So... anyone know what I'm talking about?

halofire found what I was looking for! She said:

"it no longer exists, but there was a Harry/Draco comic on LJ called _hdcomic. There's a fancircle which has an example of the art style here? ( http://narzissistic.net/perfect_date/ )

That is what I was looking for and fortunately it looks nothing like the drawing I made! I don't know what I was thinking. I'll leave this us in case anyone wants to see that link for any reason. Thanks to anyone who searched/commented!

Hey all. It's hot and I'm dealing with it by hiding in my office away from the sun.

I've made a few projects and continued work on others.

I better start off with saying that I've cross posted this everywhere, so I'm sorry if you see it several times!

You've probably seen my posts regarding my final year degree project over the past few months, and may have even visited the Unglefor Website (please google unglefor if you want to visit)(which has had a bit of a makeover, too!). I said I do a post when I'd completely finished, and post photos of the exhibition of my work. So here it is!

For those who don't have a clue what I'm talking about, check out the website & here's a little intro.
My final year project revolved around t-shirts, and creating a set of creatures (Ungleforians) from them. The final outcome of the project was a set of 14 t-shirts, each with a screen printed pattern that you could cut out and sew your own creature from. There was also a set of t-shirt bound books, and of course the website. The creatures have their own species, and are collectable in that respect.

For now the project is at a sort of stand still because I've just graduated and I'm fucking knackered haha! But come september I'm going to be creating a range of the shirts, along with loads of other similar goodies (maybe not unglefor, but along the same thread).

loads and loads of photos, cut to save our friends list )

That's about it, there's more photos on the website and on my flickr if you wanted to check them out!

Thanks for looking x

so i have a dinner to go to tonight, was bored with my normal earrings but wanted something simple but hoops ( which i rarely wear) so went into beading studio--a few beads later and some bracelet memory wire....

SO EASY. i just looped one end, place beads then made a 45 degree angle to hitch into the loop. DONE.

i've decided to try my hand at screenprinting. i did this in high school once years ago but, of course, that was with nice expensive equipment. i bought a Speedball kit and had no problem preparing the screen or buring the image. however, i can't seem to get a decent print. my setup is thus: i have a bit of cardboard on a table, piece of cotton fabric on that, screen on that. i have had to put registration marks on the fabric so i know where to place the screen as i didn't get a kit with a base and hinges (wish i had). whenever i try to make a print it either is too light or far too heavy and not crisp (looks more like a blob than my image). if the image is too light and i try to do another pass it generally isn't lined up with the first print as, like i said, it's a ghetto setup. i've seen some places where they say to do a pass with the screen off the fabric to load the image with ink and then do another pass with the screen on the fabric to do the print and i've seen places that say to just do one pass (skip the flood step). i've tried both with equally disappointing results. i assume i just need practice with getting the right speed and pressure. anyone have any advice? i was thinking about putting a stack of magazines under my fabric to both raise it off the cardboard and allow the edges of the fabric to hang down so i could weight them down and make the image area of the fabric tighter.

My computer crashed recently, and I lost alllll my bookmarks when I had to buy a new forsaken machine (btw, Windows Vista is not a good time. At least for me).

Right before my computer crashed, I found a lj community that was for knitters/crocheters who's new years resolution was to deplete their yarn stashes by the end of 2007, and I loved it.

I cannot find it for the life of me now though. I do beleive I got the link through this community, but even after exhausting the lj search tool, it eludes me.

If anyone is a part of this, or has the link, if they could share it with me that would be fantastic!

Thank you in advance.

A number of friends around the United States have confirmed my theory that it does not occur to manufacturors of baby/toddler clothes/accessories, to actually manufacture toddler BELTS. And, while I appreciate easy-removing pants when it comes to faster diaper changes, there is many a less opportune moment when an active toddler's pants might slide off. My two-year-old, being a child of the more long and skinny variety, has introduced me to many of those less opportune moments.

One piece of 1"-wide black elastic, some reinforced stitching in black thread, and two silver D-rings later....

It'll be tested in action tomorrow.
