Hello Every One,

I just now joined and started watching this community, so I don't have much to say yet. So, a little intro. I've been a crafter of one sort or another for as long as I can remember, doing a little bit of this and that. I sewed my own Barbie clothes, made her books, created with plastic canvas and free form embroidery, friendship bracelets and pins and so forth. I draw, I dabble in painting, I crochet, I hand and machine sew (made my own wedding dress last spring), I bead and and want to start working with clay. And will try to make just about anything under the sun if I have an inkling and materials.

I will love to pick your brains (mmmmmm brains...) and will love for mine to be picked in return (what's left). I am studied in Environmental Conservation. I garden (herbs and vegtables mostly and study the uses of herbs) and cook as much from scratch as possible.

So, thats me, Amythest Cat, in a nuts shell. Pleased to make your aquaintance!

Hello all,

Am wondering where the heck I can get hold of decent prints (eg. the lovely Alexander Henry, and so on and so forth) in the UK that dont cost an arm and a leg. (Would prefer not to use Ebay due to previous bad experience)

The only fabric store thats close to me is 'Blacks', which costs the earth and whos prints are a bit naff.

Any suggestions in the lancashire/manchester/internet area would be greatly received!

Thankyou and have a fabulous Bank Holiday!

x

So sorry there's no picture, but there's no finished project yet.
I was given my aunt's fabric when she died. She was one of those people who drowns themselves in perfume, so the fabric also smells like perfume. I have washed it three times and I can still smell it. What in the world can I do to get the perfume smell out. (normally I wouldn't mind it, but I have very nasal sensitive family members)

i made a necklace last week. i hadn't done anything with beads in a longlong time, so it was really neat to see what came out.

so she can remember the waves

this was made for a friend from out of town, to help her remember the waves.
(she picked up the shell at the beaches here, and it already had the hole in it!)

p.s. i'm working on a tutorial for the embroidered bracelets - stay tuned! ;D

mom said little things have been scurrying around... and getting more and more of them. so I wandered back home to investigate. a few months ago I had come home, and maybe one of my own critters tagged along, and mom does have a huge fabric/yarn stash...

Soooo, my sister bought for me this gigantic shapeless Of Montreal tee (haha, for Christmas. I'm a little behind here in posting) because it was all that was available, and figured I could make something cool out of it.

I've always really liked recon-ed shirts, asymmetry and ruching details,

so I turned this shapeless monster:

I'm very proud of it, especially considering it was my first t-shirt reconstruction.

i've been researching new sewing machines. i want something with fancy stitches and came across the Brother xl2610. shown here on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Brother-XL2610-Stitch-Function-Machine/dp/B000A5CKHG

what do people think? i have an older brother that basically sews straight lines. i also have a kenmore that is quite old (30 years plus) and am looking for something reliable, durable, and easy to use.

recommendations? comments?
