hello livejournal world,
i've been a craftgrrl member for about 88 seconds now so i thought i would introduce myself. :) i crochet like a crazy person, and i'm really excited because for the first time, i've been asked (by someone i didn't previously know, i've only made things for myself/friends/family so far) to make and sell someone a custom afghan.

i just recently got her request and started the project (which is probably going to take about a month), and i want to find someplace to hold me accountable and not let me put it off, so i thought i'd post progress reports here to keep myself motivated. (fyi, i'm an editor, my brain only understands DEADLINES).

ao will you guys help me NOT PROCRASTINATE? :) here's an "in-progress" shot of the first afghan i ever made ), i don't have a picture of it finished but i gave it to my mom for christmas three years ago.

ANYWAY this is the yarn i'm using! )

aaaaaand this is my first progress report pic (i could call them "benchmarks" but i'm not in iraq and i won't give the white house satisfaction of using their word)

afghan for autumn

hehe too bad she didn't really just want a scarf!
does anyone else have to really psych themselves up for huge projects like this or else you'll get impatient and abandon the whole thing? i love crocheting but i have the attention span of a gnat on crack. so thank you to everyone for humoring the new girl! ;)

Hey ladies & etc.,

Stones! )

Edited to add: Thanks for the advice, I think you're absolutely correct that the chisel would have been useless/damaged against stone. I obviously used the wrong bit last time when carving, because it turned out great this time. Here's a bunch of pictures with some notes on the process, for anyone who's interested in following along. I'll update it as I go. Thanks again!

I've been wanting to make something like this for so long. Finally my pictures are nicely organized in this made over shoebox! Now I'm one step closer to actually making a scrapbook page. (Its been sooo long!)

There are a few of us silly people who enjoy making Christmas ornaments far before the holiday season even begins to approach. I happen to be one of them.(: Awhile back, I bought two cheapo $1 packs of 6 ornaments in gold and green and decided to make nice little beaded covers for them. I made covers for all twelve ornaments, but I only managed to get pictures of two of them before my camera decided to die. Anyhoo, I'll post what I have and try and get pictures of the rest to you sometime soon.(:

Isn't it always time for another Christmas song? )

Edit:For those of you who wanted a tutorial, you can get some nice beginning instructions from these sites and take off on your own from there.:D

delirium
(from neil gaiman's sandman)

ingredients: everything as usual, ie: sculpey, ribbon, tulle, wire, paint, hair, fishies

to say that i really liked making this little one would be a rather gianormous understatement. i was utterly tickled bright-neon-pink. then again, i have the whole endless family tattooed on my arm, so i'm a rather big bit biased.

do you need a word that means red and green at the same time? )
