costume question
Sep. 1st, 2007 01:21 amI know it's a little early to be talking about Halloween, but I want to make costumes for my boyfriend and I this year and I'm usually pretty busy so I figure I should start early. My question is this: have any of you seen a pattern for an adult-sized panda costume? I'm thinking I could do something simple with black sweatpants and a sweatshirt if I have to, but I'd rather sew something. I'm not very good at improvising, though, so I really need a pattern. I've been looking around a bit and searching the internet, but the only panda costumes I have found are for little kids, which obviously won't work. I hope someone can help!
silkscreening question
Sep. 1st, 2007 02:49 amHello all,
I've googled this and the only links I actually got were from this community so I figured I'd ask here. (hehe i know this is craftgrrl so hopefully none of you will be offended that boy is posting ;) )
My bandmates and I recently invested in a 1 color silkscreen press..
I bought a kit at micheals that included the screen and everything...
so my fist attempt really didn't work out at all.
The emulsion didn't wash off completely.. I wasn't using a strong enough light.. so I left it for longer then suggested..
This time i'm going to try using 2 transparencies and I'm buying a proper photo flood blub (or at least a 150w light) and leave it for the said amount of time (i think it's 45 mins)
okay here's where i'm getting confused..
I bought some more photo emulsion from a local art store (she had to order it in)
it's a 26 oz diazo photo emulsion.. how much sensitizer should I use with it?
the lady at the art store wasn't 100% sure.. she had the kit and it has a 1oz bottle for a 4oz emulsion bottle...
she sold me two 2oz bottles of sensitizer.. does that sound about right? part of me is thinking if they only make the 2 sizes of emultion you'd think one bigger sensitizer would be enough... but math tells me otherwise.. anyone have any idea?
any help is much appriciated

Leaf tiles need a place in my home
Sep. 1st, 2007 01:37 pmI made these leaf tiles in my ceramic class and I don't know what to do with them. I have 4 on them, they're pretty small, and the colors are orange and green. One of them was trash can fired, so it has a nice autumn look to it. I made these just thinking how much I loved nature, not for any practical uses. Any Suggestions?
(no subject)
Sep. 1st, 2007 01:44 pmHello! The waterproof lining of my beloved travel bag basically fell apart recently, and I want to replace it. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find some sort of clear vinyl? I looked at Jo Anne and they only had printed vinyl. If not, any suggestion as to what I could use for a waterproof layer inside my travel bag?? Thank you!

Sep. 1st, 2007 07:50 pmSorry to post a lot lately. But I need craftgrrl opinions!
Do you guys think that ( these beads match the pendant I made? )
Or does it look a little off/odd?
Also, for those of you with sergers and not a sewing machine- do you find that you wish you had a sewing machine too? For odds and ends that a serger can't do? I have a serger sitting collecting dust and I was planning on getting started on some long awaited projects soon, but I'm considering waiting and saving for a sewing machine to go along with it first.
Thanks for any replies!

New silver pieces...
Sep. 1st, 2007 09:10 pmA friend of mine in NC requested a custom piece for a friend of hers' who lost her baby due to complications after childbirth. The little girl's middle name would have been running bird, so she requested a silver pendant with a little baby bird taking off into flight.( Click to see photo of pendant with further explanation )
Tutorial question
Sep. 1st, 2007 10:02 pmCan anyone tell me where I can get a tutorial for making home made heating pads? With the beans (?) and such?
I have been a busy girl. Since I started working at Joann's, I am CONSUMED with pretty fabrics! Seeing that I love bags and pretty fabrics, I thought I would make a few. I think I could make purses all day, every day, if I could have my way.
