So next friday I'll be in fl at the not so spooky halloween event at magic kingdom. All the kids get to dress up so I decided.. I am too but just a tutu.

What do you think of the tutu I made? My aunt taught me how to make it. And it was super simple.

I had an idea for my boyfriend to dress up as a Big Daddy from Bioshock for halloween. this will be REALLY hard to make and i have a few ideas
chicken wire and paper mache, string to hold together the joints? maybe fishing line? some tinfoil and paint, or maybe just fabric.
i just want to know if anyone has any suggestions for this and/or know how i can go about making his legs seem really thick without him having to wear ski pants underneath?
thanks!

For those of you who have no interest in knitting, you can pass on by this one. Even if you don't have any interest in this, you may see them this weekend at MDRF. But I got them done in time for Celtic Weekend!!! YAY!!!

Knitting geeking ensues. The top part is the pictures, the bottom part is where I go into details.

Time to go wash and block when I get home so he can wear them this weekend!!!

Hello again :)
as some ppl may or may not remember, I got my bf a new bike for his birthday - i posted the bike-themed card i made for him about 3 weeks or so ago. anyway, i decided to make something for the awesome guy who built the bike (and another one since) since he sold me everything at cost and didn't charge me for labour. he's my hero.
so here is what i made: its 7x9", multimedia collage. i found the main pic while researching some vintage bellydance images (of all things) and it just screamed him. i'm not too knowledgable in the whole anarchist/political/war area so i just put stuff i found interesting and i think the end result is neat, if nothing else. hopefully i'll be able to give it to him tonight.

tada )

also, the bf and I have been building a play gym for our parrot out of stuff salvaged from the trash and hardware store odds and ends. i think its pretty crafty so once its all done i'll post a pic. :)

She's not exactly traditional, but I was working with what I had and I love her! Please ignore the fact that her arms are a bit wonky and the stripes on her legs didn't quite line up. She was my "tester" doll, so I already know things I'll do differently next time.

more back here )

She's not perfect, but I'm pretty darn proud :)

I started making some beaded snowflakes this week. I still haven't figured out how to capture their sparkle...

The white one is iridescent seed beads and bugle beads, plus some random blue pearly lined beads. The blue ones are a mixture of silver lined seed beads and turquoise silver lined seed beads, plus some cobalt iridescent bugle beads.

I've been keeping journals all my life. I'm on my seventh and decided that I wanted this one to be special.

I was thinking about taking pictures of all my art work and collaging it ontop of the cover, it's a Borders regular big black sketchbook, but the problem I'm having is how will I make the pictures stick? I was thinking of printing them out on computer paper so it's thin enough and using double stick photo [attachers] to stick it onto the top. As a protective cover, I don't want to use modpodge, it peels and turns sticky, so on a whim I was thinking about a reisen coat?

Is there any way possible that I could put the pictures on, melt reisen and then dip the front/back cover and let that harden up? [it's already a hard cover book, i just need it protected now].

is that a rediculous attempt? if it is, is there any other way to keep the top protected and strong?

and so that this is not a text only, some pictures of my

It's the first time I've made something in ages, and even then it's a reconstruction, but I love it to death. The stiching is uneven on the bottom and the lines don't quite...well, line up, but that isn't the point.

Cute skirt under the cut! )
