I've googled for this, and have not found any results that suit what I'm looking for.

The hands are freezing cold, I don't knit or happen to have gloves hanging around, I definetly need to do something about this. Preferably crafty. Are there any patterns or simple ways to create gloves, with or without fingers?

This is just the start of cool weather where I am, so...I NEED TO HAVE WARMTH TO SAVE ME FOR THE REST OF THE TIME!!111....Yessah.

Any help would be very much appreciated, by my angsty fingers and me. =)

Edit: I keep thinking of socks...do socks work in this way, with modification, for hands??

I made ball jar sewing kits for christmas presents. Instructions are at Martha's website here:
http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.3a0656639de62ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=140d76ecfd22f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&autonomy_kw=sewing%20kit&rsc=ns2006_m6

or search for "Mending Kit". There is a similar craft called "Sewing kit in a jar" but the instructions are sketchy and the cardboard makes the top too thick. Re:Mending kit instructions: I used card stock instead of poster board and used a layer of batting and some polyester fiberfill instead of the six circles of fiberfill they want you to cut out. Important: Use a LOT of hot glue to glue the flat top part to the posterboard/card stock, otherwise it comes off. Ask me how I know! I was so frustrated and dh came in and saw the problem and sat down and glued everything over for me. He IS the super crafter :)

Here is what's inside:
sewing needles and pins pinned on pieces of felt cut out with pinking shears
buttons
black, white and assorted color thread
folding scissors
tape measure
safety pins

While in the Netherlands, my girlfriend (now fiancee!) and I went a bit crazy and purchased a whole lot of polymer Fimo clay. She is so good with this stuff. She made me all these awesome charms and critters. omg, I loves them. I, on the other hand, made really pretty girly bits.

Heh. My camera takes the grainiest macro-shots ever.

Seventeen close-up shots. )

Thank you for looking and happy Sunday!

This is TOO cool...!

Using a ton of scrap papers I had laying around (including fronts and backs of used large manila envelopes, chalk show references I printed out and kept afterward for whatever reason, old road atlas pages, old sketches and other half-used pieces of xerox paper, etc.) and THIS awesome tutorial, I made a BOOK!! :D

An actual, factual, 104 page BOOK! That I can write in and stuff...! :D How cool is THAT? It came out pretty good, too. I think I messed up when it came to adding the covers, but overall, it looks pretty smashing if I do say so myself! Which I do. :D

I made a bunch of cat toys for my sister's new kitty.
They're really primitive and infantile looking, but whatever.
He's just going to tear them up anyway.

I'm so proud of myself!! I finally finished my first knitted and felted purse.  There are some mistakes in it, but I'm happy.

Well craftgrrls, I am sad to say that I have decided to step down as moderator. After 2 years I feel like it is time to move on & put the extra time towards my creations. This is not a final good-bye, I will be dropping by from time to time, but will not be as active in the community. I will still be posting all of my crafts in my journal, and am leaving you in the very capable hands of my fellow mods ;)

But first, I wanted to leave you with a tutorial!

Here is a step-by-step guide to build your own screen for screenprinting. I hate seeing people shell out $20 for something you can easily build for under $5. (I've tried the embroidery hoop method, but would not do again)
