Today i went shopping for supplies for a christmas center piece, after finding out that i couldnt actually afford even one bauble (most of them were 5 euro (about 7 dollars) or up! it was insane)  i returned home, with one nice candle, and without any inspiration on what to do.

So, I am on a tight budget, I have no access to greenery (so no brances etc. most i will find outside is some soggy twigs, which i doubt would be useful) unless i would buy it, but then we come to point A, which is the tight budget.

what do i have?
I have beads, mainly lots of seed beads, but they are pretty colors.
ehm, i have some amount of fabric, cotton, with no print in black and purple and neon green, ocean blue also, i dont think that would be any use really.
i have felt in all colors of the rainbow, but i am at a complete loss of what to do with it.
i have paper (also a bit of  various colored cardstock), and paint.  (watercolors and acryllics)
I have some thin, bendy wire in pretty colors.
i could also pick up some silver crepe paper since it was real cheap, but i also dont know what to use it for.
I also have some nice ribbon  and lace so that could be used.
I also have some yarns, ehm probably also some other stuff i cant think of right now.

I could buy some other things if nessecary, as long as they are cheap.

I feel completely uninspired and i can only think of lame ideas currently, such as to glue a bow on the candle, which would be quite fire hazardous since i intend on using that candle.

does anyone have good tips on making  an inexpensive pretty christmas center piece?I

OK, Since I don't want to spam the list with continued weaving cross posts, this will be the last one. Just wanted to let you all know that I have posted a 22 picture tutorial on How to Weave a Scarf using the Continuous Strand Weaving Method over on [profile] loomatics.

Feel free to take a look!

this morning, i spilled coffee alllllll over this blanket i've been crochetting for a month. i'm pissed at myself. most of the coffee landed on the lightest part of the blanket too, off white.

does anybody know a good way to clean this without ruining the blanket?? and it will be hours later because i had to come into work almost immediately after spilling it. :(:(!

Edited to get to the point!

I really don't know where to get started in publishing a book idea I have. I want to be able to hand over (or email over) the finished material and have someone print and bind it. Would local print shops be capable of doing this? Would it be a total pain to have them print only twenty copies at a time? Does anyone have an idea of how much this will run?

Or, should I try printing and binding this on my own? I'm not sure where I would start, but I certainly do have a craft warehouse and a paper factory at my disposal to get started.

Any thoughts? Ideas? :]

Thanks!!

Buddist and Christian matchboxes. My mom had this idea about making matchbox shrines to give out to my family and some of the children she works with.

I have a super gorgeous sweater that I'm starting to grow out of. I just can't bring myself to part with it. It's soooo pretty. I want to do something with it, so it won't die in vain. It's acrylic so I can't felt it. I don't know what to do that won't fray. Help!

for christmas I'm getting my boyfriend a iPod, but it may not be here in time for Christmas (mainly because I'm poor) so I want to give him something to open on Christmas. I got him a really cute ornament a snowman made of marshmellows (he's a smore!) paying an acoustic guitar, some other stupid stuff, and I want to get him some guitar picks! I found a really cool one that lights up..it's sweet, and I found some PotC ones...

ANYWAY TO THE QUESTION CHATTY CATHY

ahem, yes. so I want to get some plain guitar picks and customize them. I was thinking maybe a paint marker? I'm not sure if it would stick on the pick though. I like the shell looking ones and it says some are made of nylon?? I don't play guitar..so I have no clue hahaha. I also am going to make him a little box to put them in and paint it with "pick me!" on it...I'm so lame :)

sorry for text only I'm at school :( (sooo paying attention)

edit: oh oh also i kind of wanted to make a hemp guitar strap for him (bought lots of hemp on sale at work..ohhh working at a craft store) and I was wondering if anyone knew if i could get the end part of guitar straps the pastic part I guess? seperate? or should I by a cheap strap and cut it?

Hi all,

I'd like to make some fleece beanies and need some advice. Would you keep raw seams exposed on the inside, or make a reversible sort with no exposed seams? I'm just worried a reversible sort would be too bulky, and I want this to be a more fitted "skullcap" type design. Thanks!

I made this for my friend's 30th bday she likes monkeys and pirates. I thought it turned out soooooo cute! I made the monkey, the dew rag, the waist band and the beads on his head.

I thought she would be totally crazy about it, but really there was not much of a reaction. Oh well.

I must learn not to give crafty things I make to people that don't appreciate them!!

Newbie & First time request...

I'm not exactly sure what it's called... (which is why I'm having a hard time googling it)
I'm looking for instructions for doing paper embroidery on pierced CDs
there's a couple of pics & basic description of what I'm looking for here:

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_home_accessories/article/0,,HGTV_3255_3748665,00.html

I've been collecting mailer CDs just for this purpose (free ISP disks that you get in the mail), and now that I've got enough saved up to give this a go, I can't find instructions on what it's called or how to do it... (for instance patterns, drilling the holes, type of drill bit, how to brace/steady the CD, type of thread, how to finish back... etc etc)

I'm figuring with all you craft people I'm bound to find someone who knows what it's called & where to find the instructions...
(crossposted in the hopes that someone will be able to help)

Thanks!!
