Jacques is a baby Kraken. Somehow separated from his mother, he is slowly becoming accustomed to life among people. Jacques is rather harmless & enjoys watching the Discovery Channel & reading sailing novels.

I'm in the middle of a Cpt. Cousteau phase.

I started bringing my crochet projects to work since it is colder now and I don’t really want to go out and about during lunch. I crocheted this hexagon during my lunch break yesterday. pictures and more info )

I sort of need advice. I love drawing with markers but I have such a hard time finding markers that have alot of different colours like skin tone etc. And they have to be thin tip. Anyone know a brand or where I could get thin tip markers. The craft stores I go to just have those markers where there like 40dollars for a small pack but there not really what im looking for.

Hello all,

I was wondering if it is possible to dye sued? I have these milkshake Kenneth cole suede boots with purple leather on the inside and the outside is this weird mustard color that doesn't quite match with the colors I wear. I wanted to dye it a brown or black. Is this possible?

Here is a picture of what the boots look like:

I love this photo I took this past spring. There's a space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where the owners restore Catholic statuary, and I shot this Jesus when he was drying on the sidewalk.

I throw it at the TV when stupid things happen.

I made a stocking for someone on my flist's baby who will be celebrating her first birthday and technically second christmas this year.

In the rush to send it off as a surprise, I forgot to take pictures.
She got it this morning and posted the pics this afternoon.

I have a brown college sweatshirt with embroidered/sewn on pink lettering, and shoes with a leather applique (see pictures)

except mine is brown and pink

I want to dye or colour over the pink lettering/logo on both, but I am not sure how to approach it. I thought maybe permanent marker for the shoes, but wasn't sure that it would work for the sweater. Are there ways to spot-dye a garment? And would permanent marker stay on leather?

I also have a zip-up sweater with a broken zipper. I'm not much of a sewer, but was wondering if there are simple/fun/unique ways to (easily) replace a zipper? Buttons? Ribbon? Or should I just take it to a tailor and have the zipper taken out and replaced with a new one?

Thanks so much!

Well, I had my little man on the 11th! Yay! Anyway, i'd been doing some crafts involving a number of plain white onesies that I aquired for him (still not done with them either, lol). But now I'm onto a new challenge. While at the hospital, i received one of those free diaper bags that they give you when you have a baby. It's nothing special, it's just a plain black diaper bag. It didn't come with a changing pad or anything. Well, I was thinking about either turning it into a purse OR (and I might go with this idea instead...) I might use it as a clothing bag for his clothes for whenever we go any place for a weekend or something like that. Now what my dilemma is... it's so damn plain!!! It's just solid black. I don't do embroidery, so that's out. But I do have a slight obsession with fabric paint. So what I want to do is put some kind of really nifty design on it. No flowers or anything girly or babyish... My little man is a total rock star, lol. So I want something sorta hardcore, punkish, rock star etc. Does anyone have any tips or idea's? Or if anyone knows of any websites with some designs?

What is in pincushions? Honestly? My entire life, I've wondered why they sell those ugly, cheap pincushions to people who sew. Now, I would like to make one of my own. I'm just not sure what would make it the right hardness to stick stuff into. I checked the memories, but I didn't like the pincushion there.

Cape?

Hello! As the winter months get colder (and I get broker), I have been wanting more and more every day to make myself a cape that is both cute and functional. I have some ideas myself, but does anyone have any patterns/ideas for cute designs/materials, whether from scratch or otherwise?
Here are a couple of examples of what I'm thinking of:
