Remember me?! With my Shakira skirt question?!

Well, I finished it. I mean, I have to make the sash tie still, but that's only going to take five minutes [I had to go to a Christmas party right when I finished the main skirt part, so I'm putting that off until tomorrow].

Anyway, I think it turned out lovely. I'm really pleased with it.

shakira, shakira! )

I made another saddle pad.

For this fellow.

Pictures under the cut.

I made that scarf too.  It's mine but I let him wear it.  He wanted to.

I've been very busy with our holiday decorations. Fortunately, I've found ways to recycle many items we had laying around.

Recycled goodies! )

Several years ago, I started a project at the pottery painting studio near my house in MD. I had to paint a large number of three or four inch tiles, fire them, then they would show me how to make a frame for a mirror out of the collection. I never finished painting them and they're in my house in a box. I have somewhere between four and ten of them -- I need to see how many I can find.

This year I am really broke and have a bunch of kids to shop for. I was thinking -- what could I do inexpensively with small tiles, each already painted with cartoon characters on them, for gifts? I've also got shrinky dinks, if that helps.

Edit: I'm cleaning up and just ran across half a tupperware container of multicolored beach glass, too.

Edit: Just found sveral bags of broken mosaic pieces in three or four colors.

Anyone from Milwaukee?

I'm looking for a fabric store that sells a good *colorful* selection of vinyl.
I went to hancock fabrics on highway 100 and was sorely dissapointed by their selection (and may i mention, the service).

They only have neutrals and a poor selection at that.
I'm going to make a run to Joann's and see what they have.
But I'd really love a homegrown store, as opposed to a corporate chain.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?

Thanks ladies.

they're such a neat  concept, but a pity the colors and numbers are apparently so limited

I wanted to make cards this year... I just do not know what to make then on. First idea card stock, but then I looked to see how much that was and OUCH. I am a single student mom, in other words I do not have a lot of $$. Any ideas?
