** cut fixed!
I made this bag for a good friend of mine for christmas.
I HIGHLY modified Vogue 8466
I changed the shape into a more square-ish shape, and added lots of pockets on the back side. I also completly chanced the "guts" of the bag, with lots more pockets and organizers.
This fabric is a Kaufman print called "Lucky Girl".
The pockets are lined in orange satin.
The intereer is done up in a cotton duck that has a flannel side... so it's very snuggly. I used brushed metal drapery rings on the zipper pulls and as an accent on the handle / strap.
The strap I padded with quilt batting, and did some fancy pants top stitching.
This bag took me about 11 hours to complete. I figure I'm in it about $30 in materials. I was thinking about doing an Etsy shop of my homemade bags. What do you think is a good price for a bag like this? I think I can get the time involved down to maybe 6-8 hours. I'd like to get at least $10 an hour. I figure between $90 and $140. What do you think about it. How could I better change the design? Any comments on Etsy in general? How are buyers there? are they more interested in getting a deal than a one of a kind... handmade piece of art?
-Thanks

My wonderful BF(/SO/soontobe.. yeah yeah) took me shopping tonight for my Festive Season Gift and I had him buy 8 50g balls of this

Rowan Damask, colourway "Molasses"

I really really want to make myself a shawl or wrap (starting early next year as I'm not allowed to touch my gift until the 24th of December)

Do any of you have experience with this yarn? Do any of you have suggestions for a pattern?

I also got 4 50g balls of Rowan Calmer, colour "Plum"

and 2 50g balls of Rowan Summer Tweed, colour "Sprig" that reminds me of a Kermit green.

I think I want to make socks out of both of these yarns :)

(I'm so so excited about this yarn... it's the first yarn that doesn't contain wool or any other animal that feels and looks as though it can be light, ethereal, gossamer)

Thanks! (And Happy Festive Season!!)

These are photos my house.

My very talented mother (of Oh So Crafty) does all the decorating through garage sales, thrift stores, "curbside shopping" aka grabbing peoples trash sitting on the side of the road, and by using her own creative imagination.

I thought she deserved some recognition, so I went round the house yesterday taking pictures. I'd love to put together a coffee table book of all her designs and projects. For now, here is a faux magazine cover just for her :)

OK, this is just so cool!  (Getting into an Asian groove here, what with both New Years coming up.)  You can make totes without ever sewing a stitch.

I can't believe I've been too busy to catch up here... *sigh*  I hope you're all having a relatively non-threatening and stress-free whatever it is you're caught up in.  (Christmas, for me.)

Hi! Two posts in a week!

With my sewing machine I can only make two things.  Saddle pads and ferret hammocks.

This time I'll post some of my ferret creations.

I make 'em for this fellow.

Lots of things behind the cut.
