Preemie Project
Jan. 21st, 2008 09:55 amI saw a post on Craftster about this, so I thought this was the perfect place to pass it along.
The Preemie Project through the University of Iowa accepts handmade items and supplies to make baby items. If you're in the area, they're having a Craft-a-Thon Feb. 8. If y ou're not (like me), you can send items to them. All the information is here.
I'm not the greatest crocheter in the world (and I may be the worst knitter!), but I think this sounds like a neat cause. They accept blankets, booties, hats, etc.
Anyway, I hope no one minds the PSA. Carry on with the craftiness. :)

Paper mosaic card
Jan. 21st, 2008 01:58 pmStart with old magazines, add scissors and a glue stick, and get a birthday card for my sister!

It's regular white printer paper folded in quarters, and magazine ads in the right colors cut into little pieces and glued down. Not the most exciting or intricate project, but I'm happy with how it turned out!

Fabric Paint Question
Jan. 21st, 2008 04:03 pmI looked in the memories and couldn't find anything on this: I've been going crazy with fabric paint and onesies for my son. Now with a lot of the stencils I've done, the paint is kinda thick and makes the area a little stiff, which in some cases is no big deal for me. But I saw something on craftster.org where this girl sectioned off stripes with masking tape and painted the white areas. How would I go about doing this with fabric paint without making it stiff? Can i add a little water to it? Or would that mess with the paint and make it come off in the washer? Oh and if any one has or knows of any kick@$$ stencils for a baby that are either funny or cool, let me know.
THERE IS NO PROMOTION IN THIS POST!
Jan. 21st, 2008 06:26 pmHey everyone!
I'm currently trying to set up a craft show to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. My mom has been supporting them through the Relay For Life for the past few years, and she's been trying to think of more creative ways to raise money. With the craft shows I have participated in over the past couple years, we decided it would be a good idea.
The only problem is, we've never done this before.
We have already picked a date, and we're looking at places to host it.
We're trying to figure out how exactly we should go about this. These are the ways we have come up with so far:
-Ask each vendor to donate a set amount.
-Ask each vendor to donate a set percentage of their sales.
-Ask each vendor to donate a percentage that they choose.
-Charge admission.
Which would you reccomend?
We're also planning on having a table set up with pledge sheets for people to donate.
FInally, the venue we're looking at right now would have room for about 15 spots, how do I decide what to sell? I don't want to double any products.
Thankyou everyone in advance!
