So, my parents have an incredibly smart labrador, Blizzard. My mom hung a Christmas decoration with bells on the door, and Blizz started ringing the bells with his snout when he wanted to go out, as compared to his general disposition of leaning against the door. My mom liked the ease of not having to guess if he wanted to go out or not, so she asked me to make her something she could leave up all year, this is the result:

I made this last night

Not sure what I'm going to do with him yet. A pin maybe? or I might sew him onto a purse.
Black & white felt, blue glass seed beads. All hand sewn. Eyes & mouth hand stitched. About 2" in diameter

Thanks for the glue suggestions the other day when I had asked about the inivisible necklaces and how to suspend the beads. It was a pain in the butt but we managed to put something together. It's very simple but pretty IRL instead of on the camera phone. There are matching dangle earrings but it seemes WAY too much so we'll take those apart and make a bracelet or something.

I was surprised I couldn't find anything smaller than .5MM stretchy thread but oh well.

It's just a first try so it's not perfect but then end clasps are pretty well done IMO and it's holding. Although I should have waited another day or two to wear it because you can almost smell the glue a little still *whew*

Hi grrls :)

I had this plain wooden tray, so i used pages from magazines and books that i didn't want anymore to revamp it.

A little back story: My mother is an eighth grade language arts teacher and every year she does this BLOWOUT Greek mythology unit. (Incidentally, I blame this unit for why I went pagan, which is ironic because my mother's a hard-core, born again, praise Jeebus, Church Lady. No joke, bakes the communion bread and everything)

Anyhoodle, her school does this thing where they allow pretty much anything in the class room so long as it can be somehow related back to the unit they're doing. So my mother has this collection of Greek mythology inspired stuff. She even has this great gold material toga for when they do King Midas.

Aaaaand since Mother's day is coming up and I like being the favorite child and I was totally inspired by the lady's idea who was making all the bracelets inspired by the gods a la the Percy Jackson series of books (which my mother also uses in her classroom.) I'm sorry, lady, I totally can't remember your name and I'm waaaay to lazy to sift through all the entires to find your bracelets to footnote them, even though they're kickass awesome.

I digress with runon sentences, but basically I decided to do something similar. Behind the cut are two of my first projects, each being loosely inspired by a Hellenistic deity.

x-posted to my journal.

I'm applying to the KaosPilot social enterprise school in Denmark, and I'm looking for creative fundraising ideas to cover my costs (mainly tuition and travel). I’m a fan of zines and crafts, and while I'm not actually very crafty - I’ve made a few things (fashion, zines, mail art, the odd trinket) but I’m more of a amateur hobbyist than a professional - I would like to incorporate the zine/craft worlds into my fundraising though.

Some ideas )

What else could I do?
