Hi, I'm a Newbie to LJ & to sewing. My mother-in-law was kind enough to give me one of her sewing machines that she wasn't using anymore so I could have something to do lol So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good How-to sewing book. I saw several at the book store tonite, but was overwhelmed and didn't pick one. So any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

I made some bracelets recently. I'm happy with the turn out. They are fun to wear!

I'm posting larger pics this time, so beware!

The first thing I did this morning was break my 30-year-old piggy bank. I had decided to move him to a new home, but didn't pick him up properly and his head popped off, his body shattered, and I had to pick up 600 pennies off the floor. Guess plastic wasn't meant to last so long. He was also once broken when I was little and glued back together, but this time, there's no saving him.
His head's okay, though, I wondered if you guys had any crafty ideas.
Poor little piggy :( )

I'm sad, I loved this little guy. He's kind of creepy.

A friend's baby just turned 1 yesterday, and I decided to make him a little present in honor of his two computer-phile parents.

I've always been a fan of Lord of the Rings(both the movies and books) and other works of Tolkien, so I decided to come up with a way to take Middle Earth with me everywhere I go.< 3

I had a burst of creativity yesterday after looking through Craftster so I made myself a iPod cover :)

for a project I want to be able to make my own kind of scratch cards, like the kind for lottery tickets. I know of a method that is closer to scratch art (colour with crayons and cover with tempera paint then scratch away to reveal colour). But I'm more interested in being able to print (say, from my computer) onto a special paper that can then be scratched away at (the whole sheet, or just part of the sheet). Any idea how I can DIY, or possible get help from a company or resource that does this kind of thing? TIA

along the same lines... check this out
