My project for today...I'm really liking this swooping crecent theme I'm working on and hope with each project it is getting better.  I'm still working out the balance issue, but it seems to level out really nice when the votive is filled with seed or candle.  I have to admit a lit candle adds such a nice affect.

I have been watching this community and commenting here and there for a while. I just recently became addicted to cross stitching and have discovered a whole world of sewing type crafts...embroidery, needlepoint, cross stitching. Are there anymore? Can anyone refer me to some sites with more modern or funky patterns...not the usual old lady stuff...lol. I am doing a really cute one now. I don't have pics, but I will post some when i get home from work.

Thanks all

I have an old ratty queen size blanket that has pretty much run it's course as a human blanket, and I will not waste it. I was thinking of cutting it up and making spca kittey cage blankets out of it. The blanket is one of those that are supposed to look like an old fashioned quilt. I only hope that by cutting it up it doesn't make it tear up more than I can mend.  If this turns out well I'll be asking on freecycle and craigs list and stuff for bedding and towls and such, so I can make more.

Susuwatari!

Susuwatari

Two of my best friends just started dating and the guy called me because he needed help for the girl's birthday present. His idea was to get a box or dish and make lots of susuwatari and fill it with them and kompeito, the candy they eat in Spirited Away. Unfortunately he had no clue how to go about making them, which is where I came in. Bonus: I got to eat all the extra candy! The susuwatari are basically just pom poms with eyes glued on and pipe cleaner limbs.
