I like to reuse plastic bottles. I've made assorted things out of them ... bird feeders, birdseed scoops, etc. Every spring I take 2-liter bottles and cut the bottoms off. The top part then becomes a miniature greenhouse to put over seedlings.

I've also heard of people using plastic bottles to make a coldframe. You fill them with water and set them upright on the ground in a square, then lay a pane of glass or clear plastic over the top. (For extra stability you can dig down a few inches and set the bottles into the earth.) Solar heat will warm up the interior pretty well.

But this is the wackiest reuse I've seen so far.

Just wanted to let you guys know what I decided to do for my crafty baby gifts. I went to Jo Anne's as they just opened a whole HUGE superstore by me that I have never been to. Turns out it is waaaay different than the one i visited growing up as they sell sooo much more than fabric. I ended up seeing these really cute stool/toy holders so I bought one and plan to paint and stencil it with the baby's name and some sports balls on it as thats the theme of his room. I'll have to post some pictures once I'm done. They also had some cute rocking chairs, hanging racks and little shelves that would also be fun to decorate!

I do have one question. I wanted to attach a padding to the top of it as it is a seat. What's the best way to do this? I want it to be permanent.

Thanks!

So, I NEVER leave my quilt out unless I'm working on the hand-stitching I'm doing on every square. Right now, it's in the loom about half finished and still pinned where it needs to be pinned to keep the front, back, and batting all together.

I get up this morning and one of my sister's cats has so graciously decided to pee on my quilt. I forgot to put it up, so my fault. But my question is, how the hell do I was an unfinished quilt? I'm thinking right now of just filling up the bathtub, throwing some detergent in there, and letting it soak, then rinse out the suds, then let it air dry?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I can't work on a quilt that smells like pee so I can finish it then machine wash it, but I can't throw it out, I've been working on it FOREVER!

Help, pwease?

Gonna have a cat roast. The whole thing... Hope you like fat! )

I'm not much of a "quick" crafter, so I don't post often, but some of you may remember my previous posts...

I've been working on my quilt something fierce lately, so here's what I've done recently, and a "sketch" (I'd kill for a wacom tablet...) of the square I'm working on now
Have you heard of the myth of the Deathly Hallows? )

So yeah... I work for a company where we restore antiques. It's a really interesting job. But, one that requires a lot of google-fo... and mine seems to be malfunctioning today.

We're working on a 18th Century French Screen that was under a pipe that burst. Water damage galore!

So, here's where my google-fu is malfunctioning.... where could I find 10 yards of true antique silk? The only places I've found thus far are printed silks, and I just need plain jane cream colored silk *sigh*

Thank you for any help you can provide (I have checked the memories, and they do not include finding vintage/antique fabrics)

I'm working on a craft swap and need a few second opinions as to whether the doll I've made looks like who it's supposed to. I'd not heard of this person before I got involved in the swap so it's based on Google images and my fabric stash! I think I've got the key parts down but need to double-check, so...

...have a look and let me know who you think it is! )

Since my body has decided to turn, once again, into a cootie incubator I thought I would do some crafting that could be managed on the couch curled up in front of the TV, and so these were born!

For the test run I borrowed one of mum's rainbow ink pads (the benefit of having such creative parents is they already have a huge stash of tools and materials I can 'borrow' as well as a wealth of experience!)

This was so fun to do that I'm thinking I might do some more, just need to go and buy more erasers. It's kind of scarily addictive!

Hi!

Long time lurker and longer time crafter here in need of desperate help!

I'm primarily an artist, and I'm always looking for ways to present my art. I run a small business selling cards, prints, buttons and keyrings of my art at markets, and have recently branched out into jewlery... However, I haven't really been doing it well.

The necklace construction itself is good, I used to make rather fancy jewlery out of beads and have already crossed those hurdles, it's just the actual pendants that's tying me in knots.

So far I've tried setting my art in epoxy- but it's messy, expensive and I happen to now have a stall at a VERY lucrative market next to an epoxy jeweler and I'd rather not step on toes.

I've tried using a fimo base, but the images don't like being glued on, and a little knock and they tend to crack or shatter.

Lately, i've   been using balsa wood, painting it and varnishing it. It's alright, but people turn their nose up when you tellt hem what it is, and I lose more through splits and chuks breaking off when I cut then i make.

What else can I do?!

I've though of shrinky material that you can print on, but I can't find any ANYWHERE.

Can anyone suggest any other methods, or even where I could find printable shrinky sheets? (I live in Australia, so if anyone knows anywhere online...?)

Please help, jewlery is the big money maker at my most successful market and I desperately need to boost sales

Thanks!

I've been a fan of the Fry & Laurie Jeeves and Wooster, and of the Jeeves stories, for over a decade. Every few years I "rediscover" them, much to my delight.

This time around, they provided the inspiration for my latest piece of jewelry.
