 Hi everyone! *waves*

i just found this community viacraftster.com, and I'm super pumped about it.

this is more art than craft and it's not half as cool as most stuff i've seen on here, but i figured i could get some feedback and advice.

I have recently moved to a great apartment in an old house. Between me and my friends we've painted, hung new hardware, and basically done a complete DIY home improvement job on it. I'm very excited as it's my new place and I did most of it myself, etc... however I have a dilemma-- my old bedframe.

I was given a great wrought iron headboard a while back, you know the kind with the scroll work and the brass knobs and while it's very sturdy (and actually iron, not tin or something) it's white and brass and really doesn't go in my  new place.

So my question to you, dear and wonderfully talented craft grrls, is this: Is it possible to spray paint, or acrylic paint, or paint at all, a metal surface? I want to paint it silver, but I don't want to go through the trouble, only to have it flake off later. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Some of you ladies may remember the post I made a few weeks ago about the nursery I made for my son.
The one with the mobile made out of sticks and paper cranes.

Well, last Wednesday my son died. Just 1 week after he was born.
The experience has been one of the most excruciatingly painful ones I've ever been through, and I'm doing what I can just to get out of bed in the morning.

The reason I'm here however, is because we're having him cremated this week, and I'd like to take some of his ashes and have them made into a necklace.
I was thinking of mixing them in with some clay, and making a pendant.

The only thing is that I have no idea where to start.
I don't know what kind of clay to use, or how I would fire it without a kiln.
I don't want to use air-dry clay because I figure it won't be sturdy enough and I need it to last a lifetime.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Or, if you think I should skip the whole clay idea in general, in lieu of something that would work better to preserve some of his ashes, I'd love to hear it.
I just really want to craft something, because it was my craftiness that I was most proud of sharing with him, and hopefully passing on.

I'm also going to take some ashes and mix them into some paint and make a painting.
I was going to use acrylics, but if anyone knows of a better paint to use, I'd love to hear that too.

Thanks in advance ladies.

So, I had this ugly "decorative" tequila box laying around...I've had it for a while, but really could never think of anything to do with it.  So finally, inspiration hit me.

i have alot cds without cases. what are some clever, cheap ideas for keeping these organized, out of the way, and unscratched? i'm sick of stacking them on top of each other and putting them on my dresser lol.

I make polymer clay jewelry, and I've come into a really great wholesale opportunity. While I'd love the exposure, the problem is that I've never done this before. I don't know a thing about wholesale/consignment. Googling hasn't helped much. Do I sell the shop my items for half the retail price, and then I get a cut of the final price when an item sells too? Or am I completely off... Can you wise ones fill me in on the wholesale basics? In other words, what are the things I need to know so I don't waste my time (and actually make a little $$ too, heh)?

Many thanks in advance!

Here's a picture of my work, so this isn't text only.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a supplier for bulk citrus charms, oranges specifically but would take anything. I would like citrus slices if at all possible in any medium; polymer clay, metals etc. Any links? Thanks!

gauntlets

about a week ago I made these gauntlets/ wrist warmers, (call them what you will ;)

the main body is made on my toy crank handle tube knitting machine.
then I crochet around each end with a pattern i improvised. the hardest part is getting the cranked tubes the same length.

the black ones are a shorter pair, but with a larger flared bit at the wrist.
i like them both. I think they look nice from under my coat sleeves. and are perfect for this chilly winter weather.
