I bought some silver tissue lame for my halloween costume, thinking I could use some heat and bond permanent to attach another cotton fabric on top as a simple applicque (no need for it to last forever). The heat and bond says it can work on lame, but tissue lame I am still unsure of. Tissue lame is thinner, hence the confusion.
My mom (a fellow crafter) said it won't work, but she rarely uses heat and bond.
Anyone know?
I'll test it out eventually, but I am not wanting to ruin my iron with melted lame.

so...i am interested in making things to commission, lots of ideas and still sorting it out. since i will be in portland, where a lot of people do this successfully, i feel like that's an advantage. however, i also feel that the present economy is a disadvantage, and i am seeking your thoughts and opinions on how it may effect the 'disposable income' people use when purchasing hand-made items.

how do you think it might effect your etsy shops, or your store commissions? are you noticing any changes as of yet? do you think it will amp up competition and quality because people will need to really present something stellar to make the sale?

where do you ultimately see this economy going, and the repercussions for people who try to eke out a little extra here and there with their art?

do you think it will drive prices down, and artists will not be able to sustain the effort and time it takes to make their art for sale?

thoughts and opinions, please!

Hi folks

Please tell me to get lost if promoting flickr groups is not allowed, but I am currently trying to gather together a fantastic collection of Sockboy-related craft and would love your input if you've knit, sewed or otherwise created your own homemade Sockboy. The group, if you'd like to add to it, is here. I've seen some awesome Sockboys out there already, but don't want to steal anyone's pics without permission.

Thanks, an have a groovy day!

Yes, I've googled this subject, in many diff ways, and no nothing came up that had anything to do with flannel in the seems to make bell bottoms.

If you had, did it wear out quickly, and what other problems did flannl VS cotton fabric present?

Someone else posted these yesterday, and here I though I was being unique!
But I've gone and done something other than pumpkins...

you'll find them under the cut )

Finding brown tissue paper for the wolfman should be ...very interesting.
