I'm hoping someone can help me out with this, because I'm not having any luck through google

I want to make patches to put on my laptop bag. That's about all I know *LOL*
I'd be doing them by hand, as although I have a sewing machine, I still haven't learned how to use it.
I assume that I'd be doing embroidery, but I'm not really sure where to start.
I would prefer to find free instructions instead of having to buy a book, & also buy the individual items as I need them instead of a kit (to save money)

Any help would be muchly appreciated :)

Hello all! I trolled the memories and faqs but had no luck. Ages ago, someone very helpful linked a website that had a ton of info about hand book binding / making machines. Can anyone recall or refresh my memory? Much appreciated! Thanks!

Just a couple little things I wanted to show. I made a couple of cupcake cellphone charms and a couple drawings.

So santa got me a kiln for christmas (!!!) and I've been playing around re-learning how to enamel :) These are my first attempts!

I call this one Cellular Speciman #RE63:

And of course, with Valentine's day coming up, the requisite cute little heart:

I think I'm gonna try making some leaves next.... Hee!

First time poster... hi!

My question is...

I saw latch hook plushies in one of my mother's craft catologs (Herrschners.) and was wondering if anyone has made any or designed any of their own? I would like to try it...

Any tips and tricks would be helpful... thanks!

Sorry for being text only. I will post pics of my stuff next time.

Hello again!
I have a massive post full of monsters and other fuzzy things. This was all the stuff I've done during the month of December. I was veeery busy.
I wouldn't click the cut if you have a slow computer. :O

Hi again, I have another question! I got a bunch of small semiprecious stones, like amethyst and turquoise chips and some peridot, they are all only a few centimeters long and mostly quite skinny. I would like to make some kind of jewelry with them, possibly utilizing copper wire (I'm thinking bracelets right now). My issue is logistics--I don't know what kind of tool one would use to make threadable holes in them (or if one would want to do such a thing), and so far any kind of "cage" setting I've tried to make (ie wrapping the wire around the tiny thing) isn't at all sturdy, and I'm sure that they'll fall out quite readily.

So, you're all very much smarter than me--do you guys have any ideas?

And so it's not text only, a plushie:

it was supposed to be a ferret . . .

I'll be the first to confess that a major motivation for making this Christmas gift for my boyfriend was that I thought it might win me some "cool girlfriend points" with his housemates. ^_^. Not that I think I need to win them over. It's just that it can be a little deflating for him sometimes, being the only one in the apartment whose significant other lives thousands of miles away (while the others get constant attention and affection from their SO's, who live much nearer by).

Closeups - front and back - under the cut )

The pillow was made of navy corduroy and hand embroidered and applique'd with acrylic felt. I hand-stitched the entire thing, as I'm a complete klutz with a sewing machine, despite having had to take four years of sewing as part of home ec in middle school... (I remember breaking 4 needles in 2 weeks while working on a plush rabbit in seventh grade). My stitching isn't particularly professional, but I don't expect that the bf is going to try and wash this in a machine at any point, so I think it should be okay. :)
