I live up in the mountains. I was so excited that one of my friends with a car said she would take me shopping down where the craft stores and fabric stores are! And then she forgot. My costume is made of: a sweatshirt my store sells that had a hole in it, two t-shirts someone left in the laundry for more than a week, Elmer's glue, cardboard and the basic sewing kit the other store sells.

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! )

My sister and her friends...much more impressive. Live in a city. )

I love to sew, but I am just now getting into the knitting and crocheting craze. I have no clue how to do either, and my friend Brenda is going to teach me-But I have this kit that I inherited from my grandma, and it's supposed to be rather easy, so if you guys might could help me with it, I'd be very thankful.

You see, my grandma had alzheimers and dementia during the last few years of her life, and she somehow thought it would be a good idea to remove the instructions from this box and now I can't find them. It's a circle loom afghan kit that you can make pretty flowers with and turn them into a blanket of sorts.

I truthfully do not even know if this is considered knitting, crocheting or loom weaving, but I'd like to know if anyone could give me a quick tutorial on how to get started.

Here is another scarf I made last night, as Jordan was yelling at the TV - telling the Bulls to do better.

Let me know what you think :) I had fun adding the three layers of fringe. And, I've always loved bows.

I think I may have posted once before but I was asking a question...so I don't really count it if I did. Haha.

Anyway, I was bored and looking up different projects online. Somehow, I managed to run across a couple of tuts on youtube using yarn to make hair falls and dread falls. I thought "hell, why not?" and got to work on the hair falls (they were easier and quicker than the dread falls). They're so cute too! I love them. The dread falls are still a WIP and are taking a long time (though not quite as long as I thought they would). I have pictures of both and I'll post them under a cut (if I remember how to work them...)...

The results of my boredom..... )

Hello again!

So my friend and I decided that we were going to crochet cute little beret style hats for our little girls. So we bought all the necessary stuff and found our online tutorial videos (hooray for youtube!) and went to town. Well as I was following the instructions I deviated a little (the lady said we could haha) to get a little more "slouch" in the hat. I wound up adding 5 extra rows after rows 15-17 in the tutorial. Well the more I kept working on it, the less and less I liked the slouchy beret style hat because it just wasn't laying right on my daughter's head. So I wound up just unraveling it to a certain point (line 18 in the tutorial) and ended my hat there and turned it into a beanie instead. I'm very happy with the finished product and can't wait to start working on a matching one for myself and scarves for the two of us.

So anyway, here's the hat and directions I used behind a lovely little link )
