I don't live somewhere where it's easy to get any crafting done, but I visited my parents, and got three projects done at their house.

The prettiest of the three was my flower ball (or kusudama). It seems like a pretty common pattern, but I used this tutorial. It was pretty clear.

I made some stockings from recycled thrift store sweaters and am wanting to add our family member's names to them. Here's a picture of what I've got so far behind the cut. )

Any ideas for how I should add our names? I'm thinking either embroidery or needle felting on some yarn or roving. The sweaters aren't 100% natural fiber though, so I don't know how the needle felting would work out. It's my preferred idea right now though since I can make it bolder then with embroidery floss.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hi everyone!

I'm a lurker, mostly because I don't have a lot of time to be crafty, but I love seeing all the projects everyone has made. I was wondering if you all might be able to give me some suggestions.

I recently had a t-shirt quilt made for me.

Check it )

The artist then gave me back an enormous bag filled with all the t-shirt scraps. I simply can't throw them out - they're in all sorts of lovely colors, and they're so many of them. I was wondering if you guys might be able to give me some suggestions of how to recycle these scraps. So far, after searching online, some of the ideas I've found:

+ Sleeping mask
+ Underwear (a la some posts from [livejournal.com profile] t_shirt_surgery)
+ Potholders for the kitchen

Any other thoughts? Also, I don't have a sewing machine, but I do some basic sewing, and I also crochet from time to time.

Thanks for your suggestions!
