Okay, so I've found my new creative obsession of the month...refurbishing furniture! Mostly nifty painting and decoupage. I'm writing here now without anything to show you yet (sorry) but I was hoping maybe you girls and guys had some ideas to throw out..I've checked the memories and a bunch of other sites, but if you have anything to add to my lists, please feel free! Or maybe this will just inspire you and that'd be cool too bc this is a very fun craft hehe.

So I was thinking of all the things I would use to decoupage, and this is what i have so far:
book pages (including text books), magazines (my fav for decoupaging is playboy to be honest), maps, photos, wallpaper, personal cards, playing/tarot cards, specs/blueprints, posters, newspaper (crossword, comics, etc), labels (from bottles, food, etc.)
Am I missing some cool stuff I can attack with my x-acto? Oh, and obviously I'm not using all of these on one project; I have lots of tables, stools, tv trays, boxes, and lampshades to have fun with and give away.

Also, any advice on keeping it from looking like a 3rd grader did it. Last time I used mod podge and lacquer it just looked....wet ?

Thank you! And I promise to post as soon as I get something completed!

grad work has been trying to kill me, I swear. this semester, in addition to our normal assignments, our department head challenged us to make a miniature art piece.

I'd been planning on making this sucker for a while, but the only problem was trying to figure out exactly how to do it. But, alas, it is complete... and I think it's kind of epic. It's also probably one of the geekiest things I've ever made.

I made a Visual Kei Corset.

No, no. Not a corset that was inspired by some Visual Kei PV or anything. It is a LITERAL Visual Kei corset.

As in, it took over a dozen Visual Kei posters getting chopped to make her. Here be pictures )

Well...picture help really! I have alot of old nintendo magazines and a brilliant Watchmen calendar that I would love to recycle into something new.

However, I have no ideas! The only thing I could think of would be to cut out loads of images and cover books with them, like sketchbooks or notebooks. Buuuut, I dont know how this would work.....does anyone do anything with old magazines? Any ideas for me? I really dont want to get rid of them, they have some brilliant pictures in.

Thank you ^_^

I made this dress today...I'm getting better, it only took me a little over an hour.

Hi all! Just wanted to share my latest project with you guys. I made a necklace using part of a vintage pearl millinery spray to look like a tree, on top of handmade aqua and gold damask paper, encased in glass and soldered together and made a rosary style pearl chain to compliment it.
