I'm really interested in sewing... But I don't have the money or space to get a sewing machine in the foreseeable future. So I'm wondering, what are everyone's thoughts on sewing by hand? Namely, are there certain things that one should stay away from (obviously smaller projects are easier, less time consuming)? I've heard before that sewing any type of clothing by hand can appear "cheap" because it's difficult to make the stitches unified without a sewing machine. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any good patterns for a beginning hand stitcher (tote bags would be lovely)? I do a bit of embroidery so I am not completely new to sewing.

Thanks!

I have been working on some new smaller owl cameo pendant and I finally have them done and ready to share. These cameo pendants are very hard to paint as the detail on them has to be done so small.

Lots more pictures under the cut!

Each pendant is a hand made from a wonderful, lightweight, strong clay called Paperclay. After the white clay is molded it is allowed to dry for 24 hours then it is sanded, hand painted with a mix of acrylic, interference, and other specialty paints, (the moon and stars on this piece were done in glow in the dark paint for a little extra sparkle and fun, I tried to capture this in the last picture although it really doesn't do the glow justice). It is then sealed with several coats of a strong indoor/outdoor sealer which results in a stunning hand painted miniature work of Art after the sealer is allowed to dry thoroughly. I then wire wrap the piece with a mixture of silver and colored accent wire and special glass and gemstone beads are added at the top to add a little extra sparkle and shine to the piece.

Size is approximately 2.25 tall (including the bail at the top) x 1.25 inches across.

I have an art project idea that involves these clear plastic ornament balls. I want to suspend glitter and cellophane and shiny things in them using a clear medium, like some sort of glue? I'm not sure what I'm after. Would epoxy/resin do the trick? I'm feeling a little lost. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Hey, all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

Recently got some oven bake clay for the first time ever, and have been having a ton of fun playing with ideas... both of these are Sculpty painted with acrylics.

First, a bunny. Wanted to paint it to be lucky, but after listening to some Pink Floyd, it turned somewhat dark. Soon to be a necklace:

And something else... )

Hope ya'll dig.
