craftgrrl | Coat pattern for my 1 year old niece

Alright crafties, here's my dilema:
My niece will have her first birthday in a couple of weeks.
I have her birthday present already, but I'd like to make her an outfit for Christmas. I bought some great bright yellow corduroy, and I want to make her a little jacket, a pair of pants, and a skirt out of it so she can be a cheery ray of sunshine all winter. My God, that is the cheesiest thing I've ever said; I apologize.
Anyway, I can wing the skirt and the pants. The jacket, however, I am not willing to try without a pattern or some serious guidance. I want to use some cute toggle closures I bought (they have teddy bears on them) but I'm willing to skip them and use them on something else if I find a good pattern.
I've looked in the FAQ's and can't find any pertinent info about baby patterns or ideas.
I've never sewn clothing for children, so your help is appreciated.
Can anybody point me in the right direction for patterns, info, moral support?
Suggestions?
