Need a little help .....

I made this stuffed crochet Jack (from the Nightmare Before Christmas) doll and I want to put the detail of the lines and eyes on his bat bowtie thing ... what would you use? I tried yarn, but it didn't look right .... maybe fabric paint? I would think puffy fabric paint would look cool, but I don't think it would stick well to the crochet ....

Anyway, what do you guys think? You always have great ideas. :P
