craftgrrl | ARGH! N00b knitter in search of a pattern.

I'm taking a knitting class and have conquered the dreaded dishcloth... and now I'm ready for my next project. I need something that involves casting on, knit, pearl, increase, decrease and bind off (I guess some of those are obvious) but I can't seem to find a simple pattern. All the hats I find seem to use double pointed or circular needles, and FAQs pointed to alot of nice sites, but they don't seem to have what I'm looking for.

Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places?

I'm open to making just about anything, from a scarf/hat to a tampon cozy.
