I've always loved [livejournal.com profile] stolenmilkcrate's posts of her chibis, and on a whim the other day I picked up some Sculpey that was on sale. I played around with it over the weekend and attempted to remember [livejournal.com profile] stolenmilkcrate's tutorial as I tried to make a wee 'Norbert' (Norwegian Ridgeback). Now that I've looked up the tutorial, I want to go back and try again!

Doh! I should have put something in there for scale. The biggest one was my first one, it just accidentally got bigger and bigger as I was going along. But I was feeling clumsy and awkward enough that bigger was better for my first try. The next one was the smallest one. Oops. Too small, and really rather odd looking. The third is my favorite, not too big, not too small, a bit different shape.

I loved painting the ridges and adding the bit of sparkle. Nothing too fancy, and I admit to being lazy, not wanting to get too elaborate.

Hmm. I'm torn about even posting this one, it's quite ugly, though, it's ~supposed to be~ of course. Inspired by the Tenniel illustration of the Jabberwock:

I didn't have any white paint on hand, just the white sculpey, and so when I tried to get the mouth to look more like a mouth, I used silver, which, eh, looks weird. It would have worked better to have made a wire armature structure, but again, I was just playing with the stuff and seeing what worked and what didn't.
