Just wanted to share an interesting article -- it's been posted to the <user site="livejournal.com" comm="knitting"> community, so I apologize if some of you have already seen this.
Tonya Jameson (Charlotte Observer) says in <a href="<a href="http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/entertainment/performing_arts/5460889.htm">This article</a> that women have been taking up sewing, knitting, etc to "nest" as a reaction to the 9-11 attacks. That we're scared and want to nest and sit at home and feel safe and that's why we craft.
Personally, that's not why I enjoy crafts... and the article took me by surprise b/c that's something that has never occurred to me.
