i made an awesome discovery today. i'm not really a "beader" (though i may become one after this discovery), but i ran into a beauty supply place to get a styrofoam head for a different project and discovered that they carry some *gorgeous*, *BEEEEE_UTIFUL* wooden beads, some of them inlaid with little crystals. i was so shocked. They're in the section with the hair swatches that girls use to braid into their hair. i guess the beads are used at the ends of their braids, but i was thinking "Dang, i wish i had a ton of money to buy a bunch then do something with them!" Watch me learn how to do something with beads JUST so i can use these!

Happy beading!

Can anyone think of any reason why I shouldn't draw/color on my sneakers with Sharpie markers? Is there anything in the Sharpie ink (alcohol, etc.) that would damage the leather uppers? Many thanks to you who can give me advice!!!

I went crazy artistic today. Feeling inspired by the craftgrrls in my life. My muse is back, and she says it's time to ROCK HARD... or, just find things to do that look cool.

Oh, and hi!

There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets to.... )

Anyone here have any experience in making roman blinds? I see them do it all the time on Changing Rooms, but they never really go into the how - just that it's supposed to be easy. ;)

Any sites/patterns you've used? Tips, tricks, things to watch out for?

My cats destroy miniblinds and regular shades moving the corners to get into the windows; I was thinking roman blinds might be a good alternative that they won't (can't?) ruin (at least can't ruin it that way *snicker*).

Thanks. :)

Just wanted to share an interesting article -- it's been posted to the [livejournal.com profile] knitting community, so I apologize if some of you have already seen this.

Anyone ever had any luck drying/hardening plasticine (sp?) clay?

A few years ago a friend of mine gave me a cool sculpture he made from that kind of clay...but of course, it's still smushy and wet. I'd love to harden it if at ALL possible.

Anyone ever tried?

I made this for a friend of mine. Bear in mind that this is my first try at making a duct tape wallet.
pictures ensue! )

Any ideas on how I can decorate it? She's of the goth/hippie persuasion, and I'm stumped.

I don't post here very often, but I thought that I would give everyone an idea of what to do with old chucks.

Flower Pot Holder:
1: Spray a pair of old chucks (or just one) with fabric stiffener, pose in disired shape and blow dry with a hair dryer, then let it set over night
2: After the stiffener has set, spray all over with satin finish spray arcylic or lacquer (to make it water resistant, plus the stiffener is water soluable) Let dry.
TA DA.. a cool flower pot holder

I was clicking around on Fred Flare, and I REALLY REALLY want to make this: Does anyone know where I might be able to get pieces of plastic like that? And if i found it would I be able to cut it or drill holes in it w/o it breaking? Thank you for all your wonderful crafts in the past, they are beautiful and I will be posting some of my own soon!

Now that I've made a wallet, I think I'm going to try to make a duct tape purse. Looks like fun to me. I'll post results if/when I finish it. :)

Hi, all. I've been mostly a lurker/commenter for a long time, but I'm actually posting some pictures of projects today. I'm sure my decision to not work on my work and/or school projects today will come back to haunt me later. All the same, however, I spent bulk of the day holed up in my studio (really, just half of my large bedroom that I devoted to craftiness), decoupaging and sewing. I have some pictures.

I have been watching this community for a while now getting ideas on diffrent little things.. but I now have a question...

See, I am getting married in November and as part of my favors/cute stuff I am making birdseed roses (I'll post pictures of mine later when I get more done.

anyways, you wrap the stems in floral tape and I am sure that yall have worked with floral tape before and know that is is pretty sticky... even the roses I have made a month ago are still sticky. I was just wondering if there is anyway to make it not feel sticky to the touch of my guests...cause I know that when I work with it after I am done, my hands feel grose and I dont want my guests to feel like that...so..umm.. any ideas on how to make the stems not so sticky yet still keep the floral tape on?

Thanks!
