Hey Craftgrrls (and guys!). I'm a long time community lurker but this is my first post.

Basically, my boyfriend is a huge fan of the game Darksouls. He's a big fan of the character Sif; a large wolf who eternally guards his master's tomb and carries a large sword with him.

My boyfriend has a dog (an American Eskimo) and has said before he'd like to have a plush sword toy for her to play with so he can take pictures of her as Sif.

Now, I'm not amazing at sewing (I'm really new to it), and I'd be hand sewing the project, but I'd like to try to make one. I've made flat teddy bears before, so I figure something basic like that would be okay. I've done some searching for inspiration and haven't been able to find any patterns for plush swords that I've really liked. Could anybody point me in the direction of sewing resources that could help me get on my way?

I figure I won't be able to do the different patterns on the handle of the sword, but if I could get the basic shape of the sword itself, I'd be super happy. And of course, I'll post the finished product here!

Does anyone here happen to have a Simplicity 1880 pattern they'd like to sell/swap for something? (It's this one in the smaller size range http://www.simplicity.com/p-7453-misses-dresses-project-runway-collection.aspx). They don't sell it here in the UK because it's some kind of Project Runway tie-in, and their US website wanted to charge me $18 to send one pattern to England. Any takers? I can either pay or swap you some of the vintage patterns I have.

May be somebody remembers, a week ago I posted three MUG RAGS. Well, it turned out they were first  pieces from a breakfast set I am making now. So the new additions are:

Hello!

I'm hoping to have a go at making my own clothing for this summer because if you find gorgeous fabric you've got a wonderful dress for pennies!

Anyway, I was hoping to follow a pattern as I don't really trust myself to just make it up but my search didn't go very well so I was hoping you lovely ladies could help me out!!

I'm hoping to make dresses like the following - any patterns you could recommend or any tips would be wonderful! The only one I came up with was to buy the dress, measure all the panels, create my own version of the dress and return the bought one! haha

All three are from Topshop if anyone is interested! )

Thank you so so much if anyone can help!! :)

So everyone I know is raving about these Snuggie things. The first time I saw the commercial I:
A) Laughed really hard at the "cult of snuggie" before me
B) Said to myself, "it's a blanket with some sleeves on it, hell, even *I* could make that!
and
C) Cringed at the colour choices (even more-so since they put out their "designer" series with 'Bold leopard' and 'Fun-loving Zebra'!)

Well, I've seen them in stores and didn't like the feel of the fleece they use at all, so I didn't buy one. The weather here went from highs in the 60s(F) all the way down to a brrrr inducing 36F the past two nights. It got so cold on Thursday I decided enough was enough, there HAD to be a pattern out there for this thing and if there wasn't, I was determined to figure it out!

I found a pattern that's really good and FREE! It's also as horrifically simple to make as I originally thought when I saw the commercial.

(JoAnn's has fleece on sale until the 31st, so I'll probably head back tomorrow and snag some more! Guess what all the ladies in my family are getting for Xmas? hehe)

Call it a Snuggie, a Slanket, or a Snuglet-doesn't matter, it's the warmth that counts! )

HALP!

I just bought a Singer Simple and the bobbin WILL NOT STOP JAMMING. I am about to throw the sewing machine out the window! I threaded the stupid thing a bunch of times, but as soon as I try to sew it jams up on me. Anybody know how to fix this? I can't deal with this much fustration this late at night. I think I fixed it!
Another question...
I have never quilted anything, but I absolutely fell in love with this:

How would I go about making something like that? It almost looks like the center part is just a piece of fabric that the hearts were outlined. Can I do that on the basic sewing machine that I have? Lastly, are there any websites featuring more modern/hip sewing projects?
