I have paper questions. Can you help me?

I want to buy paper for cards reeeeal cheap and have no place to turn. Currently, I buy my paper at a joint called Impress in Seattle. Impress charges me up to 40 cents per sheet of paper that is just the perfect thickness to be card stock or to be cut up and used to decorate card stock. Vellum costs just about the same. Their prices are similar to Ben Franklin, but frankly, this is just too 'spensive for my meager milk fund.

So, I looked on ebay and there are lots of people selling paper. But because you kinda need to see the paper, touch it, feel it, and all that dirty stuff, but can't, most of the sellers are giving weights to describe the paper. This means nothing to me. What is a *good* weight?

I'm just sad to be so ignorant, but if anyone can enlighten me or give me advice where to look (i.e. links) for cheaper paper (all kinds--vellum too), I would be soooooo grateful! thanks in advance!

Yay! My first *real* experiment with Sculpey III. I've been making dinky little beads for a while..But today I got to play with figurines. This is Lenore and Mr. Gosh from Roman Dirge's "Lenore" comics. I met him this weekend, and it inspired these:

Pretty good for a first try, eh?

a few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] goddessofpurple posted a link to cute little party lights. decided to try to make them today.

i couldn't find any ping pong balls anywhere. (which i found extremely hard to believe.) but i found several packages of practice golf balls- like ping pong balls, but with lots of little holes in them. i didn't think they would work, but they were so cheap, i at least wanted to try.
i painted them in splotches of gold and red. when i inserted the mini lights, they looked absolutely garish. the holes in the golf balls showed waaaay too much of the white inside.

after a few hours of pouting, i stumbled upon an old bag of clear faceted pony beads. mmmm, idea...
i dug out my glue gun and glued those suckers into the holes... and ...sigh... they are so groovy!

i'll post pictures when i have a chance.

awhile ago someone [outshine] posted a link on how to make hand warmers. i was wondering if anyone else knew of any other patterns to make hand warmers. i am going to college soon and will be walking to class 40 minutes everyday -- not to mention i live in minnesota. i will be needing something to keep my hands warm. unfortunately, i cannot afford to buy pie weights... as they are expensive. i was wondering if there was an alternative to pie weights and any other fabrics i could use besides cashmere. & thank you in advance. again, sorry for the horrible picture quality.

i got this idea from a website selling them for 60 dollars a pop and got the box from my Pop. i mog-podged the first layer of paper (cheetah print $.49 @jo-anns) then the second smaller square of red paper (lying around the house, free!). then came a colored photocopy of a vintage pattern (i bought this one at a estate sale for $.50, you can buy vintage patterns from jo-anns by vogue). after i coated everything with a good layer of mod-podge (and everything dried), i glued on a strand of blue and a strand of red sequins (again, lying around the house). i bought the red plastic handle at a trim store in NYC, and my father made the hardware to attach it.
all in all, this project cost me about $12. not to shabby.

I have a strange obsession with sporks, whenever i go to taco bell, I end up walking out with as many sporks as I can fit in my pockets. I could use them in place of regular silverware at the dinner table, but does anybody have any ideas as to what else I could do with them? I'm thinking maybe a wind chime or something. I figure you crafty girls could think of some stuff, I'm more of a duct tape girl.
