hi everyone..

alright, i'm going to try working with resin - both in a project that i'm working on for schoool and then for some fun resin jewlery. so i was wondering - does anyone have a resin that they would reccomend? like a particular brand or anything.. preferably something that i could get at an art store (i live in boston so i've got lots of major art stores around me) .. but something to buy offline could work too..
also - a friend reccommended something that was a 2 part resin and hardener - if anyone knows what that might be then let me know.

thanks!

Here is a bracelet I just finished. It is made of sterling silver beads and Swarovski crystals.

I am thinking of making Christmas gifts of these and maybe selling a few too. I will be getting all different colors of the crystals so we shall see!

if you have no silk, thin cotton or rayon would work

found another use for those freebie internet disks on the about network

http://jewelrymaking.about.com/library/blcd.htm

The demo shows a blank disk, but keeping with the spirit of the copyright discussion; if you are using a piece that has any company info or logo you might want to paint over that part (I think these would look cute painted anyway!).

I also think they would be cute dangling on fishhooks too, if you have a rotary tool and a diamond head bit for it!

i just bought some paints this weekend so that i can try my hand at stenciling designs onto clothing (tshirts, dresses, jeans, etc) and the directions say that fabric should be "heat set". i feel a bit like a clod, but what does that mean exactly? ironing after it has dried??

oh and also, what kind of adhesive is good for holding stencil to fabric without mucking up the material?

thanks!

I have a bunch of postcards from everywhere, is there anything I can do with them?

I've been playing with polymer clay and here are some of the stuff i made..

I'm thinking of selling these or trading for them for some christmas gifts..so I was just wondering ,how much would you pay for them? actually , would any of you trade for them? that's what i am more interested in.will post better pics soon including the bracelet etc. but i thought i post this first and see if i get any response.
I have some other stuff for trade too...Click here to see them!

I made this (http://www.geocities.com/electric_p1nk/bracelet.jpg) bracelet out of jacks, buttons, and beads for a friend awhile ago. I loved the way it turned out (so did she) so I decided to make some more. I used a doubled piece of elastic and just started adding beads and buttons. To attach the jacks, I used both pieces of elastic to tie knots around the things. I want to call them spokes, but that doesn't sound right. The pointy things.

When I finished, I just knotted the ends of the elastic together a few times. Would I be better off using something else besides elastic and using a jumpring and clasp to close it? What about the jacks, would there be a better way to attach them?

This has nothing to do with this post, but [livejournal.com profile] red_toe_nails, I emailed you on Friday (to bang_bags@hotmail.com) about the trade for one of your adorable bags, in case you didn't know.

How does one make pom poms? Out of yarn I mean. I know there are pom pom makers, but isn't there a way to do it without some special device?

my boyfriend and i tried the silkscreening this weekend. i must say that i was quite impressed! i've always wanted to do this and it turned out well. my skills can improve, though. it was very fun.
thanks for the tips & ideas everyone.
i think i'm gonna go work on a bag now, as i have not had much time to do so in the past. i'm so tired though.

I know you crafty girl can help me out with this one.

A good friend of mine works for CBS radio and he gets these passes to every game. So he has maybe 30 - 40 for each year. He wants me to do something "crafty" with them.

They're a little longer than a postcard and the whole deal must be frameable.

SUGGESTIONS?

I have already gotten 4 pieces to make from orders I got today so I figured I would post again just to make sure no one else wanted anything before I place my order with my bead distributor! Here is a link to a page of some samples of my work. Granted, the page is shabby and there are only 4 examples............but that shall all change soon. I just figured I would show you a little more of what I can do. If any of you are interested, just reply and I will get back to you ASAP!
