i have a huge tin of plaster powder left over from a project last year. i want to make some little pendants and paint them, but i want to make my own molds for them.

any ideas on what i can make molds out of? at craft stores, i keep finding cheesy shapes i don't want to use.

-thanks

I've always been intrigued with transparent soap...so i bought a ton of stuff at my Spotlight [craft store in australia] sale yesterday and couldnt wait to try it out.

This is my first attempt at soap crafting. its not very good but i love the smell of it! my apartment smells really good now. hope some of the soap experts can give me some comments and ideas!
click here for the pic, its not very pic so dont worry )
questions i have include
1. how do i encase stuff without it forming a white line showing clearly where i had poured the second batch of soap on?
2. what sort of molds can i use without having to buy expensive soap molds? [i paid US$4 for my rectangular mold and i kinda think that's costly for a bit of plastic]
3. any sites/ideas/books for Heat and Pour? [that's the stuff i am interested in]like what i can encase and stuff.

Thankies in advance!

I just realized that to get everything made that I need to make by Christmas, I need at least 4 months of weekends. Panic is setting in early this year, this must be a sign I am finally growing up. GASP!

I guess this weekend I better shift into high gear, or Christmas will be coming for my family and friends in mid Feb., like usual. heh

Procrastinators unite! Let's lobby to move Christmas to a more reasonable month... if they can move a president's birthday, why not another holiday?

I have several shoeboxes full of broken, peeled crayons. I don't want to just throw them out but am out of ideas of what to do with them. I have already made chunky crayons for the little ones using muffin tins, & my kids & I also used an idea from Martha Stewart, she made Valentine's by melting shaved pieces on wax paper. We did the same idea but just made all kinds of pictures, not just for Valentine's. That's all I can come up with. Anyone have any other ideas? Especially anything that isn't just a kids kind of craft, although any ideas will be great.

Hey everybody. I've been a lurker for a little while, and I decided to finally join since I just finished off my first real craft in a long time.
I have a lot of plants in my house and I started to get sick of just seeing plain terra cotta all day. So, for Hallowe'en I painted a pot in jack 'o' lantern fashion. I only finished it two days ago, making it late for the season, but I was still happy with it.

If you're interested in the entire process, I've outlined it in my photojournal (along with pictures of the steps): [livejournal.com profile] _obscura.

I'm moving in to a new place on Dec. 1st and I'm allowed to paint anything I want! That includes doors, frames, walls, (not much I can do with the nasty ugly rusty carpet atm), etc.

I'm relatively new and I'd like to share my latest creation with everyone. Here is a picture of a Fall/Harvest wreath i made last weekend.

I need to get ahold of some Butcher's Wax in order to do this project I read about in Martha Stewart Living. I'm making knitting needles for a friend and the Butcher's Wax is required to make the yarn move freely on the wooden dowel. Anyone have any thoughts on where to get this stuff (especially in Seattle) or have some they don't need? It's a brand of wood wax (I think from carnuba), and I can't seem to find it around here. I did find it online, but for a high price.

Help!
