I made these for a Treasure Swap I'm participating in, but I thought they might make nice stocking stuffers for the holidays.

I drilled 5 holes in the bottom shell (in a + pattern) with a hand drill and then painted both shells with acrylics. I left these rather plain so that the swap receipients can embellish them further, and I think they have all sorts of possibilities. I then sewed two pieces of ribbon (crosswise) to the bottom shell so that the top could be tied snuggly without slippage.

You could place tiny love notes, favorite quotes, mini goodies, etc.. inside. Have Fun!

suggestion:
for x-mas gifts, crochet scarfs can be made really quickly with a big needle. i was panicking because i wanted to make a few people scarves, so now they are thicker because when you wrap it, the larger crochet holes won't matter. it's much much faster. i'm almost done one i started two hours ago. at that rate, i could make one a day until christmas and have enough gifts done!

question:
i'm about to get a sewing machine! is it worth the $40.00 to get the carrying case? i don't think i will need to travel with it.....but it could be handy for storage. opinions?

This one was a little more complex than the one from Ready Made. I got the pattern here. To make it easier, I did not fold the tape over and over like the directions suggest in Steps 1 and 2. Instead, I cut out a piece of paper that was about 17 x 22 cm and simply adhered tape to both sides. In Step 3, there is a typo, but I think it means to say 1 cm instead of _cm, whatever that means. Heh. For Step 4, I again cut out small pieces of paper (about 4.5 cm x 10.5 cm) instead of just folding the tape over onto itself. Duct tape is just too difficult to work with that way--you get too many wrinkles.

Anyhow, it was pretty easy and it matches the one I made earlier, which, incidentally, makes a good coupon carrier or glasses case. (Though, if I were going to use it as a glasses case, I would probably line the inside with some sort of fabric.

I made this vase a while ago out of rhinestones and hot glue. It took entirely too long, but I am pretty happy with the finished result.

This is sort of a survey to help me make the right decision.

I do the local Waldorf school craft show every year with my eggs. It's a 2 day show and I always make good money....I was ready to do it again this year until I saw a sign at the grocery store for the local holiday craft show for our town's "Small Town Christmas" celebration.

I live in a very small town, and I truly don't know if people even KNOW what I do. The Waldorf school is local as well, but not as local as one hosted at our little school.

Now the question is: would you go for money, or would you go for supporting your community and getting local exposure, money or not??

The shows are on the same day, this is why I'm confused. Supposedly there are over 60 tables at the local one already, so it obviously draws a nice crowd.

HELP!!!

hi kids, new here, and in need of a craft question answer:

i have a glass jar i want to turn into a gift. i want to collage it with tissue paper; i seem to remember doing this in elementary school, but don't remember for sure (usually it was to make glass jars into candle holders)
so i need to know how to get the tissue paper on and what sort of coating would be involved to make it stay and be smooth and such?

any help is muchly appreciated**** thank you~~

Does anyone have that website that featured making soap out of ice cube trays? I think I'd like to do them, I have space themed ice cube trays and I think I might make them and send them to my little brother. I got a 10 pound of glycerin for 18 last night at Michaels but it was regular price 32.99 and then I got two olive/white bars.I am introducing my husband to the funderful world of soap making today, weee.

Why did no one tell me that Lion Brand makes eyelash yarn? And why did no one tell me that it's only $3.50 for 50g at Walmart?

I'm doing you all a favor and telling you that it exists. :)

I bought two balls of the champagne color to make a scarf for my best friend.

I am making an attempt to do something similar to this, but less "hairy" and with pockets on inside and outside. somewhat a cross between that one and this one. I want something fun but warm and cozy, but I am not 100% satisfied with that design at Sourpuss Clothing and the other one doesn't look as comfy.
anybody done anything similar, worked with this kind of fake fur/fabric and have any ideas on what do do and what definitely don't do?

I went to micheals and they had ceramic ornaments. They are only a buck and they are so fucking cute. I painted a couple, and I'm giving them away at thanksgiving dinner as a pre-christmas sort of deal. I swear someday I will post pictures. dont hate us. were fabulous.

I want to decoupage (sp?) coasters and then waterproof them. So how can I waterproof them? I have Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic protective clear coating. It says that its fine on ceramics, painted surfaces, etc...but is there anything that might be better?

Also, if you're planning on doing this don't forget to put felt or cork on the bottom so you wont scratch the tables!
