oh man, i totally found a glue gun in a closet today. i got so excited, i fixed a ring, made a hair clip out of broken vintage jewlery, and glued sea shells to my dresser. i love finding new things to create with, i get so goddamn excited. i just felt the need to share. i dunno, i came across this bead box of my grandmothers reacently filled mostly with broken jewlery, mostly vintage pendants that i cant tell the origins of (pins, neckalces, i have no clue). any ideas what i can do with these types of things? i want to find a way to use them, they are sooo pretty. but i just dont know.

Hi all,

I know how to crackle when you are using 2 coats of paint...but how do you crackle or age a computer print or picture??

I have seen images on things that are crackled...but it's just the image, with somewhat darker cracks. How is this achieved when no paint is used?? Any ideas welcome, thanks! If you need to see an image as an example, look here.....

I bought myself some nice big yarn, and some neddles. And Im knitting so fast, you would think im a pro.

Which I was at the craft store, I was looking at needles.. and on the top shelf guess what I see? A knitting machine. I didn't know how it would work. Apparntly you put the yarn in these comb like areas and move the ares up and down.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1787442841

At the store is was 159.99.. that is still too much. But it claims 6,000 stitches per hour.

On other hand... you know how they have christmas yarn on sale and stuff? Well they have this gold yarn for 99 cents. And I of course buy it because normally its like 8.00 (the expensive stuff) and Im just so proud of myself... Now I can make a good scarf later.

Does anyone know GOOD instructions to makeing stockings?

I have a question about reupholsteringreupholstering some couches.. nothing fancy, a somewhat functional but luxurious fabric. It will be going over a comfortable canvas material couch with curved arms, and will be my first attempt.

Does anyone have any pointers for me? I'll be using a heavy duty staple gun.. what size should I use? How much extra fabric should I allow to work with and how do I handle a couch that has piping.. take it off?

Thanks for your help :D

Just a little thing I do that I thought ya'll might find handy. I have tons and tons of recipes craft instructions and crocheting patterns that are either printed of the web or ripped from magazines, I keep them in binders tucked into some clear plastic sleeves with 3 ring holes in them. It's sooo convenient!

a few posts back in the stocking stuffers post someone mentioned those little cardboard box things you can get very cheaply at walmart. so i thought id post a picture of one i découpaged a few weeks ago. i just cut up a magazine article in tiny pieces for the text and painted the inside black so it didnt look so thrown together.

im planning on picking up a few more to découpage and put magentic poetry kits in for christmas presents this year. they are perfect for small gifts. maybe fill it with candy or other small objects.

does anyone have one of these (it's a one inch button making machine if you were not wanting to click the link, but i am asking about that specific brand)? does it work well? was it worth the money to buy, and was it worth to the money to buy a circle cutter (if you did)?

oh and by the way thanks for all of the silk screening advice a while back!

it has everything from laying wood floors, to building stools w/ storage compartments, and building shelves etc., and decorating ideas.

I bought a really awesome CP soap making book today. Good news is I won't be buying my lye, I will be making it. During the winter we only use a wood stove, we don't use gas, oil, or electric heating methods. So I will have TONS of ashes to make lye from. I am really excited about this. It saves on money and "recycles" what I will already have. :-() I will tell you how it turns out when the time comes.

hello gals
i know we have all seen the link to the martha stewart ice cube soap, yes? well if not, she says that to get nice hues, add a little bit of food colouring.... now my questions are:
♥does martha not know that food colouring stains your hands? im not sure if im just soap retarded, cause im planning on making my first batch of soap soon.... or if martha is retarded.
♥has anyone used food colouring in their soap and had it work?
♥does anyone know where i can get soap colours for cheap? (ex. NOT michaels or other pricey craft places)
♥and lastly in order to place charms and whatnot in my soap, i first do a layer, let it solidify then place them on-top and pour melted soap over it yes?

Im sorry if my questions are lame, but ive never made soap before, am quite poor and using them as my xmas presents, and really dont want to screw up too bad and waste my soap stuff. Thanks for your input!

So, I'll be posting a ton of pics for my Christmas crafts as soon as I get the pages made (which takes time, since I'm a student and I work). Here's the first one. I just finished this sucker tonight and I'm a-super-stoked.

It's a Christmas tree skirt. You can read about how I made it here.

I came up with this one during my (incredibly-terrible) poetry class. I knew I was paying tuition for something!

oh wow! it's my first post! hello everyone! i have a question, of course:

i decoupaged a pair of boots with old vintage comic books that i found. i just used some glitter mod-podge. What kind of glaze or sealant (whoa, i can't spell) should i use on them to protect them from water and to keep it from cracking? I was thinking spray glaze? but i'm not sure of all the products out there....btw, i love reading about all the cool stuff everyone makes :-)
