recently, while I was going through the memories page
looking for the link I needed for the light bulb vase info
I couldn't help but notice our lovely moderator has only
got herself a free user account. Now, I know anyone
who has looked through the new system can appreciate
it, and would just like to say, I think perhaps it would be
cool if we all donated just a little bit towards an account
for her. We have just shy of 800 members, if half of us
were to donate a penny, we'd have most of it. I think
the sheer number of posts everyday and having to go
through and organize not just those, but all the previous
ones as well (I can't even do this for my own journal)
should earn her at least the chance to make polls and
use some the sillier/fun features here. I think most of
you would agree.

so, what do you say [livejournal.com profile] kimmercake?
that ok with you?

Here's what' I've been werking on. I don't have pics of the pair that about killed me. Apparently my machine does not like certain fabrics.

Here's a note on those stockings I just posted...

Use fabric that stretches both ways or lycra. These are comfy and cutie but get a little baggie around the knee when I sit down. Also if you're gonna make them with something that only stretches a little - make them a tiny bit smaller than they need to be.

That's it. Hope it helps someone!

Made 2 bags for my friends! The pink and brown for my good friend Toni G in California, and the green one for my best friend Heidi in Provo.

Toni G mentioned to me once that she really liked "dusty pinks and poopy browns." yayyyy! I can't wait to mail them! Had enough fabric for a couple more of each, but those are posted on my site. These are getting packed and sent with a lot of TLC!!!!!!!

I hope they will like! =/

hello craftgrrls!

ok, so i have just received a generous gift from this community. [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl is now a PAID livejournal member. which means we now get all the cool and fancy features.

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed and [livejournal.com profile] cuntgirl because she rules. you are all SO sweet and awesome.

i am definitely going to use all of the new features to better and improve this community. it may take me a while to get the hang of it, so bear with me a bit.
and just so you know, i dont need to be paid to do this. this community is for you guys. but i am definitely going to utilize these new features and do some really cool stuff for us.

ALSO, since we have a paid account now - [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl can now have unlimited user icons. so if ANYONE wants to whip one up or whatever, i'll add it to the community. that could be really cool of you guys [as i am icon retarded].

anyways, THANKS again. you guys are tremendous.

here is our first poll. its kind of lame but i just wanted to get into the swing of doing them. check it out!

Does anyone know any good sites on the internet that teach you how to work with resin? I have looked, but have yet to find something helpful...

When I was at the fabric store recently, I saw huge cones of thread on sale for much cheaper than "normal" thread (spools). Why is this stuff so cheap? Is it only for use on certain things? Also, if I were to buy one of these cones, how the heck would I get it to go in my sewing machine? Just put it off to the side and thread like normal?

Thanks everyone, you all rock.

Yay for the thrift store having 50% off on Martin Luther King Jr. day, and me buying 2 skeins of this kind of shiney peachy orange color. It's so neat. Anyone looking for yarn, do not forget that old ladies drop their stuff off at thrift stores, therefore making us all happier people.

hello all! i've just stumbled upon this community tonight and already i'm obsessed.

sorry to start off with a question, but it's something i've been trying to figure out for a while now. i've got a shoebox full of old wine and champagne corks that i've saved from special occassions, and on each one i've written the date and what the occasion was. it seems a shame to leave them in a shoebox, but i can't think of any creative way to display them that doesn't simply take up shelf space.

any ideas?

as you all already know, I bought a bunch of sculpty clay and FIMO clay and I want to make my own beads.
I have never done this before and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me or if anyone knew a good place online...or even a good book.....that would help me out with making beads and blending the colors together to get the swirled look.
Thanks ahead of time.
