i can't find it in the memories section. help!
[edited to add]- is there another way i could get letters on a shirt(something with wax paper maybe?)

p.s. i am new. hello!

It's so simple. I wish I would have thought of it.

They have a lot of other nifty stuff in the DIY section ( http://www.fatgirlbreakdown.com/main/archives/cat_doityourself.html ). But the bra is just the one I happened to make last night. Heh.

I thought you all might be interested. :)

I have to older desk that I would like to transform into something that works for me. Currently it has a side of drawers that are hard to slide in and out. I was thinking I could remove the drawers and insert shelves for my hard drive, etc. Any ideas on where I could find web sites on fixing furniture? Eventually after I deteremind the structure I would like to do something cool to the surface.

Any ideas?

i was working on a painting the other day and i accidently got paint on my pants. after i washed them, there were still a few paint stains. so i decided to just paint the whole thing with designs and whatnot. is there anyway i can wash my pants without getting most of the paint washed off?

Does anyone know where to buy those cute little infant hats with the teddy bear ears on them? Kind of like the kitty hats that the grown ups wear...
I've searched all over- and I think I'm just going to end up buying a couple of caps and sewing ears onto them myself!
Any suggestions on that? Anyone have any simple ways to make some damn ears?! :)

Thanks!

There have been a LOT of questions lately about Iron-On transfers. There is a home-made method. I don't know how well it works, but everything else in this book is excellent. I'd recommend testing first. (But it IS dryer-able).
The instructions come from Jennifer Knapp's book Cheap Frills: fabulous facelifts for your clothes. I highly recommend it.

Tools: medium grit sandpaper, one piece of cardboard, prewashed t-shirt or fabric, iron, dishcloth, vinegar, water, and crayons.

Use crayons to draw your design on the gritty side of the sandpaper. Press hard. Remember that your drawing will be backward when it is transferred.

Put cardboard behind the fabric you're transferring onto. Put the sandpaper over the place you want the design, crayon-side down. Iron, on a medium-hot setting. Make sure the crayon melts. Remove sandpaper.

To set the crayon: soak a dishcloth in a 1:2 vinegar and water mixture, then wring it out. Lay the cloth over the transfer, and iron again. Once you're finished, soak the shirt in salt water for 3 hours.

Once all this is complete, machine wash in warm water, and tumble dry on low.

Go at it, ladies!

Hey, do any of you psychotic craft junkies out there know where I can get instruction to make hair pieces and falls? On line instructions would be ideal. Thanks.

I have two questions. They are as follows:

1) How do you make a zipper shorter? I have one that is 10 times too long, but it most definately needs to be shorter.

2) Do you think its possible to put those iron on letters on to felt? Has anyone done this? Do they fall off?

Thankyou in advance if anyone helps me out!

Spice Rack

I'm trying to come up with a clever way to design/make a spice rack. I've found that most of the ones you can buy don't accomodate a wide variety of spices or they are super expensive. Any thoughts are appreciated....

today i made the ultimate score while thrift shopping: a vintage 50's swimsuit in perfect condition that actually fits! i might actually go swimming this summer, now that i don't have to be worrying every other second whether a nipple is going to pop out of those getups they call a swimsuit these days. i'm so proud of it, here's a pic:

swimsuit!

now my question is: i want to crochet some sort of cover-up to match it, but everything i'm finding online is more a heavy-duty sweater type thing. i want it to be light and airy and open, but still cover my thighs a little bit. has anyone seen a pattern for something like that, preferably online?

I've always loved my past time of making jewelry...but I find that the masterpieces I create never hold together very long. I always triple my string so that doesn't fall apart, but my weakneses lie in knot tying. Can anyone give me advice or a reference on how I can properly tie knots for necklaces and tying string onto clasps?

I really need help >.

For those of you looking for coloured duct tape to make wallets and such, tapemonster.com has an AWESOME selection of colours at decent prices. I got some great purple duct tape there. :)

Hello, craftee grrls!

I just got this cool little one-button blazer/ jacket thing, and I just got this idea that it would be great if it had a more interesting/ unique button. But then I thought, I wouldn't want to be stuck with just the one button. Is there a way to make a button cover? I don't have a sewing machine or anything (there are reasons I didn't continue as a fiber artist...!). I thought maybe some of you could help? Thanks a lot!

I promise I will never abuse another glue jar again!

okay, so, i plan on making wings. lots of wings. lots and lots. i will become tremendously good someday and people will spend like forty freaking dollars on my wings. but people who really want them and are poor, or hoboes, or friends, or certain family, or people who just look like they should have on wings, they will get them for free.

once i start making wings, i will not stop.

but oh. i don't know how to make them really. so. yeah. does anyone have any sites or tips or suggestions? meow.
