sorry if this is off topic.
i just wasn't sure where else to post it.

but did anyone else notice that on trading spaces they have the same clothes on two days in a row?
and then when they do the interview thing with the designers before the unveiling they're wearing different clothes.

what's up with that?

it's just been bothering me for a while.
because i was never sure?

well, i looked in the memories/FAQ's section, but i couldn't find anything...so, i was wondering if anyone knows how to make the candy-wrapper necklaces? if so, could you please give me/ show me where i could find some instructions?

thanks!

just a quick post before i slink into bed for the evening. spent a few hours today working out a concept for a crocheted wire slave bracelet.

28ga gold-plated copper wire, czech glass seed beads in "tortise" and "chocolate mud pie." gold-plated brass toggle.

what do you think would be reasonable for something like this? $60?

behind the cut, because they're somewhat large. )

looking to flesh out ideas for this design -- i'm thinking of doing thinner, possibly single crochet chains going between the ring and bracelet, instead of a solid graduated piece. anyone have any requests? comments? suggestions?

i've got gold and silver wire to work with, and a number of colors of glass seed beeds, along with some semi-precious stones.

Has anyone here ever dumpster dived for Craft supplies and what not?
I know girls on getcrafty.com have, and was just wondering if anyone here has.

Question for those that do... )

I'm new here, been reading the community and FAQ's instead of sleeping. Naughty, naughty...

My most recent crafty projects have been a throw quilt and vinyl and tulle dress. I also make chainmaille ) jewelry and occasionally clothing (shirts, hoods,etc.).

Tonight I won an auction for a Batman twin sheet set, and while I have plans for the flat sheet, I'm not sure what to do with the pillow case...any suggestions? Thanks!

I've been lurking for a while, but i've decided to finally post!

I love crafting and art, especially when it involves using really mundane objects and materials. I will try and post some pics of some of the stuff i have made soon.

Has anybody ever tried decorating disposable lighters? I'm doing a care package swap with somebody, and she likes hand decorated lighters so i'd really like to send her some.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

Love, Ica xxxx

Hey all. This has been X-posted to...well I lost track. I don't mean for this to be annoying so..sorry. If it's inappropriate just say and I'll delete it ASAP.

I'm starting an online shop (http://electrokill.org) selling some of my designs etc which will also be a community for ladies (or honorary ladies eg boys) who make things from fabric, paint, clay, graphics, sites whatever...with forums, tutorials, tips, etc. Anyway I'm looking for people who'd like to submit things such as articles (relating to art & design), product reviews, how to make pages (must have clear pictures) to be published up on the site. If you want to get involved just email me at christine@electrokill.org.

here's the shirts that wouldn't work before...hopefully it works now...

it was this big long sleeved shirt...and i just made it smaller on the sides...and i made a v-neck, cut out the back...saved the sleeves and turned them into the cross on the back...lots of fabric glue was used.

I was babysitting 5 & 6 year old girls this weekend. We had a craft time each day. Yesterday we made altered cd's. We decoupagéd the fronts and wrote on the backs with glitter glue. They had so much fun! :)

They did their own decoupage and beading and told me what they wanted on the backside.

This is the one I made while showing them what to do.

Whoa, another post from me :O Anyway, I finally finished the PAIR OF SHORTS FROM HELL a few days ago. It was my first pair, and everything that could go wrong, did. I made the waist too small so I made it wider and then realized I had made it *too* wide. I sewed the legs together wrong so the bottom looked all funny and I had to take it apart and start over. I had to put the zipper in at least three separate times because I kept messing up, etc etc etc...but I finally finished and I'm so proud ^^ They're like my beach shorts, even though there isn't a beach for miles..and they're almost scandalously short :D Here are two really crappy pics )

Also, this is way late (Easter was a long long time ago) but my mom and I made an Easter egg tree and I finally got pictures of it.
check it out )

Okay, that is all, y'all ^^ (I'm a poet and I didn't know it, whee)

i made lip gloss for the first time. it took me 10 seconds and tastes kissably good.

recipe:

1 table spoon of veggie shortning (solid)
1 tea spoon of honey (mmm!)
mix kool-aid powder (from the PACKET!! NOT THE JAR!) with 1/4 teaspoon of water and add as much as you want for color and taste.

put in fridge for a bit and MMMMMM!!!

can anyone hook me up with some links of places you buy supplies from online? is it cheaper than just going to different fabric stores, etc? i'm new to the game, and i just need some supply shopping advice.

thanks in advance!

Hi everyone :) I have a bunch of questions to ask you all, especially all of you UK craftgrrls.. well, I can't be the only one! Apologies if I've missed anything that can answer my questions in the FAQ...

Firstly; anyone know of any UK based online stores selling crafty stuff? I'm interested in everything at the moment, but especially jewellery making, really original fabric and beads. I've seen LOADS of great stuff, but it all seems to be US based, with a postage fee that I can't afford (on top of the things I'd buy).

Secondly, I'm going to be in London for a little holiday at the beginning of August. If anyone knows any really great (and/or cheap) craft shops there, please let me know so I can make a visit. Or just if anyone has anything to recommend to me there, if no-one minds us going off topic..

Thirdly, does anyone know of any sites which could tell me anything I need to know about sewing machines and how to use them?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

:) hiya. i'm from *not so sunny* florida and i'm a long-time lurker and all that yadda yadda. i've always loved crafts and i've gotten so many ideas from all the various communities and boards i've been drooling over, but could never get off my lazt butt to create some stuff. well....NO MORE!! i've been into beading a jewelry-making for awhile, but i've never done actual sewing with a needle that didn't try to bite me every two seconds. anyways...i've finally gotten up the guts to post some pictures [acutally, scans, since i'm a poor booger and don't have a digital camera] okay, now - dont' laugh - im no pro at this craft stuff...but i try.

i'm not sure where to post this, so i thought i'd just post it here and in tshirt surgery...

i received a basque from eBay, it's my size and it fits fine! *but* it squidges my boobs down...and i don't have the biggest boobs ever, so they look even smaller when i wear this basque, which is not good! was just wondering if anyone had any ideas / tips / something about what i could do to it so my boobs don't get squidged down as much, heh! it's boned, it that makes any difference...

Went to a bead store in Montreal with my boyfriend and he ended up making a necklace before I did! I think his necklace turned out quite nice.
